New exhaust - Should I scrap the factory exhaust or is it worth anythi

Just put a Borla cat back system on this weekend and don't know if there is a market for the stock. What is everyone doing with the factory system you took out? Scrap it or is anyone looking for one. I took it out in one piece.

BTW...I went with the GM Borla system. The sound to me is perfect, not to loud but I can hear it much better than stock. On cruise control I can barley here it but if I get on the throttle it opens up. Funny thing my gas mileage seem to have taken a hit since the install.

I tried selling one a couple months ago, really really cheap. A member on here wanted just the muffler so I cut the rest off and sold it to him for the shipping charge

There was someone on the forum looking for a stock exhaust off of a 6.2. Look in the For Sale section and search WTB...oh, and now that it sounds so nice, you'll tend to accelerate longer to hear the sound. My gas mileage dropped a little too for a little while...it really dropped while I had the Corsa installed...?

If I did It over again, I would just keep the stock laying around for when/if you decide to trade the truck in

I still have mine. Tucked away in the basement. In case I decide to sell the truck.

Keep it just in case your truck develops the "vibes" later on. Some dealers have blamed the vibes on aftermarket exhaust. You never know. Then you could reinstall and rule it out.

1.) Which Borla cat back exhaust did you get? Touring / S-Type / Atak ?

2.) How is the sound when the engine switches from V8 to V4 ?

The GM Borla only comes as a Touring version, but you can choose double passenger side exit or dual rear exit. Very minimal sound change when going from V8 to V4 - it has an upgraded version of the flapper valve with a bypass loop built in.

mines in the garage off my 6.2 like others said I don't see much value in it

I just installed my GM Borla last Saturday. I cut the stock system off as it's much easier to remove that way. Dropping it off at the scrap recyclers today.

You can order a brand new stock exhaust delivered for under $400, so to me it's not worth storing the thing indefinitely. If I get a new truck, I'll get a new exhaust.

I think I'll go this way since I don't have much room in the garage with 3 boys. I've got weight lifting stuff, fishing gear, dive equipment and the list goes on....Just waiting for my wife to ask when I'm getting it out of there.

FYI for you guys that are keeping your oem exhaust and are storing it outside. Keep a close eye out for spiders and dirt dobbers. Don't ask me how I know. I'm grabbing a can of hairspray and a lighter right now.
