Hooked on the 6.2, but wavering a bit

i just came from a 2011 eco-boost lariat to the 6.2 denali. The ecoboost would run circles around this 6.2, but the ride and comfort of my new truck is hard to beat. Though the new fords are just as nice. If you are a performance guy you can get alot more bang for your buck with the eco-boost because it already has twin power adders.

Umm, no... Any documentation or tests say otherwise as well as just plain common sense.

I don't know what you hit your head on, but I drug the last EB around and left him behind with no issues in my 6.2L. You are talking a 360hp EB V6 versus a realistic 430hp 6.2L V-8. There is well over 50hp advantage to the GM 6.2L engine, I had no issues up against the EB that I have ran.

My 2014 6.2L completely stocked between 345-350rwhp and 376-380rwtq. Thats essentially the stock numbers of a EB F150 at the crank. Our 6.2L's are stout to say the least. Heck I even hung in with a guy who had a Supercharged 6.2L Raptor. Granted he beat me by a little over a car length nor do I know how hard he was trying. But we both went at it well.

I had a worked Ford 6.2 in a 2013 FX4...... I literally sold it 5 days ago. Stainless works long tubes, no cats, 3.5" exhaust, AFE intake and a custom tune. I can say with certainty that this GM I have with a 3.5" mbrp, airad junior and stock tuning... would take that truck in a drag race anyday of the week. These engines are no joke.....

Oh don't get me wrong I'm a Gm guy, this is my third 6.2.. And I never lined my ford up, but seat of the pants felt like my ford would run off, hell it was making all its power at 2500 rpms, when the boost comes on its fun! Spend 1k on the ford and your really talking power, spend a grand on the 6.2 you don't even have a set of headers.

Great info. Appreciate it.

This reminds me of the late 80's when Grand Nationals would prowl the streets. Darth Vader looking things.

I'm going to go test a couple 6.2's tomorrow.

Now that I know the deal with the gas pedal.

I have a stock 6.2 with just the airaid MIT and a modded factory box. I'm sorry - it is a beast. I own a couple of 12sec street cars & I've never seen such a large vehicle move the was the L86 does. It is tuned for a soft pedal and gentle acceleration for the great mileage. Pedal to the metal it just plain rips! seriously on the freeway from 60~99 ((Limited) it is sports car fast. no joke. With spirited acceleration on the street I'm always going faster than it feels when I look at the speedometer(the truck is so smooth).

I went with the 6.2 with3.42 gear for towing reasons and it does a fantastic job of towing my toy hauler it tows as good or better than my 2002 duramax and it isn't even a max tow(2014) ,the added bonus to this truck is the performance ,not very often but every once in awhile I like to get on it coming out of bend in the road on to a straight at about 60 mph and get into the throttle and this thing pulls smooth and hard and in seconds it has hit the rev limiter and shuts down, the mid range pull is really quite something and very addicting,I have never drove the ford or raced one for that matter as I don't race but if like you say the performance is that much better than the 6.2 it would be worth taking one for a spin as it must be an animal,I do know the 6.2 chevy is plenty of power for this old guy ,definitely a keeper.

I'll second this. Plus, for those that aren't cut off at 99 something really impressive happens. Right around 98/99, it grabs another gear - AND JUST KEEPS PULLING! It's wild. There's a little something in the back of your head that says "Yeah, Big Bertha is done now" and the speedo just didn't get the message. And then there's the melodious tone. Hard to describe, but it doesn't have a hint of strain. Kinda like the exhaust equivalent of "Gimme some".

Judging by the dyno #'s it's probably already in there from the factory TBH

No comparing a 3.5 ecoboost to the new DI smallblock 6.2, tune the ecoboost? Sure do it, enjoy the single digit gas mileage and the anxiety that the motor will blow while you're at it...and you CAN tune a 6.2 GM as well, and gain about 20-30whp in the process as well, while INCREASING the fuel mileage.

Biggest dissapoint me (ie: joke) to me is that despite a blown V6 and an all AL body the F150 is barely any lighter, less fuel efficient, and less powerful than a 6.2 equipped similarly optioned GM truck.
