Ok. I got ahold of a 2003 duramax.

Obviously has a efi live switch and has a good amount of miles. BUT the odo only says 4077 miles.

Anyone have an idea of what would do this.

Ps there's no way there is only 4k mils. 89647761d38b99030f410bf393d44ffb.jpg

We had a work truck, it was a 04 model

I remember them replacing the instrument cluster, I wanna say it was a recall,, I bet that's what's going on. If gm didn't do it, I'm sure sombody did

Pretty easy swap

swapped the cluster?

My '04 Sierra 3500, with 190K km, somehow managed to do that with only 311 engine hours...

I've added another 20K or so, and the engine hours are now over 1000. Guess I'm driving slow.

Yes,, I had a 06 2500hd 6.0

My hrs didn't add up to my mileage

I didn't think about it to much

That truck would haul some but loaded or not, it was a single cab 2wd

4.10

The hours on those clusters like to self reset..... my 06 did it twice while I had it. The mileage however usually never does so this just points to a cluster swap.

Most likely a new cluster would be my guess, especially since it's an 03. I've never heard of the miles resetting before.

Shoe me the carfax!

I have a small matco scanner, i can pull up the miles on mine but not sure if its pulling them from the gauge cluster

or not.

Ive never been in your situation before.

My 2003 LB7 Duramax 2500HD had a problem with the cluster that required a complete rebuild of it. Nothing was working on the stock cluster, no lights, no gauges, nothingI sent it off to Texas and it came back completely perfect, including the mileage it had when I sent it off. The repair outfit said they could save the mileage stored in the chip and that's what I got. When I checked with the dealer they said they could only send me a replacement cluster and mileage would start at zero.

I suspect your cluster was a factory replacement part, not a repaired one. Most all the repair outfits of these say they can save your mileage if the cluster is rebuildable. The rebuild includes new stepper motors for all gauges, new LED's, and new resisters for each of them. I paid $135 for the rebuild. Factory replacement was over $600. No brainer.

The cluster is easily removed and re-install is too.
