I'm in NYC. I've got jobsites in all 5 boros. Some of these neighborhoods are real tough. You don't lock up your stuff....it's gonna be stolen. Simple as that. Maybe not 100% percent of the time but the odds are very much against you.

I think I've narrowed it down to two options.

a) A retractable that I can depend on to be used daily and not bind up or stick after a years use.

b) A flip up that can be opened at front or back and low profile.

The dust and water I think I can reduce with a good bed seal kit.

Any thoughts?

Makes me think of this - not low profile - but one tough cover - if price is no object.....

That Diamondback cover is great!!!! I put that on one of my company trucks for my site supervisor. He loves it and so do I. Front half opens at each side with tool racks. Back half opens up wide to the rear. Can't imagine the amount of stuff he piles on top during the day. 2x4's stacked past the roof. You'd be amazed. I'll post some pics you guys would get a kick out of. "One tough cover" you dam right. I have one similar on another company truck that I bought second hand at an auction with a fuel transfer tank hidden up front. No branding on it but looks like someone custom made it and copied the DiamondBack.

Not quite the style of cover I'm looking for on my personal Denali though. Don't want it to look like a work truck if that makes any sense.

Extang solid 2.0 for me. Got a $40 savings free shipping and they offering a free bed rug/mat till end of March ($150). Looks good, easy on and off, and folds up far enough to reach anything that slides to the front. Happy so far

Edit: I mean, I understand that you get what you pay for, but after shopping for a soft cover, they all look the same. I'd be willing to be most are made at the same factory, just different brand names are applied before shipping.

Because you can cut open a soft cover with a butter knife? I needed a little more security than a soft cover offers. If it was just keeping stuff dry, I would have went cheap...

It's almost a guarantee, they stole the straps holding the load on my work truck in Jamaica Queens...left the 80 pound bags of concrete alone, but stole the straps holding it down.

We had stuff stolen everytime we had work in NYC.

You can get the seal kits for the tailgate, that will stop most of the dust. But there are still openings under the bed rails, so nothing is going to be 100 percent...

The Diamond Back is an awesome piece of equipment if you can justify the cost. One of my racing cohorts has one on his Silverado and puts his ATV on top, which leaves more room on the trailer. Point being, it one tough mother and gives you the bed back on top of it for hauling stuff.

Which Extang did you get? I plan on the Extang Trifecta Signature canvas.....

the Extang 2.0 is an improved version...I had the Trifecta from 2015, and the corners of the canvas shrunk a good bit, exposing the corner seal, and frame...and the rear spring latches were too stong for my wife to latch...

I hope the 2.0 solved those issues...

I went with the Advantage Torzatop on my 17...they make the covers that GM sells...same cover, different label...

You guys/gals don't worry about water freezing in those drain lines? Especially this time of year, when sun is warm but air is cold. Even more so when we get a snow storm!

Got my Peragon today. Haven't fitted it yet, but I got a courtesy call from Peragon within an hour of delivery asking if everything was present and correct, and to inform me that I could call them if I have any installation queries or issues. The guy was super nice, and that's the best customer service I've ever had from anything EVER. A+ guys! [emoji106]
