So I currently have a 2014 Sierra All Terrain package with the SLT upgraded lights, 5.3 engine and standard bed on a crew cab. So i was at the dealership fixing my truck for the rust and my salesmen approached me as i mentioned once before id be interested in an upgrade one day if it was right.

So what he had offered me was this:

Summit White 2016 GMC Sierra

Crew Cab w/ 6.2 engine

All terrain package and the premium All Terrain package

Leather jet black seats

Power sunroof

20" aluminum wheels

So the MSRP is 56685 and it can go down to 52989 with supplier discount then another 3500 off that for 49489. He mentioned that my truck could be traded in for 32500. That is a 17k difference. Which is a bit much for me. What would you say would be a fair price for the truck? Or how much lower can i negotiate it down? I am not normally good at negotiations so what do people think of it?

People get 8 to 10K off sticker regularly. I myself got 8K off with no hassle at all....seems like they only knocked off 6K or so for you....not good enough and they need to come up a little on your trade to be worth it IMO

Thanks, i was hoping to get it down to like around 10k difference, then i would think it would be worth it. I do like my current truck a lot.

Fwiw I got offered 35k for my 15 Silverado crew LTZ 4x4 with the 6.2. 53k sticker and only 7500 miles. The rebates on these new trucks have killed our depreciation. I think you may be able to get them to 33k but thats doing pretty dang good IMO.

Trading a 2yr old truck is never a wise financial decision, but if you want a 6.2 and can afford it, then go for it.

I just traded my fully loaded 2015 GMC Sierra SLT 4wd 20" wheels Crew cab for 38500. It was the upper end of KBB trade in with 9400 miles. It was spotless.

IMO, they're still at least $4K high on the new truck. You should be able to get at least 20% off MSRP.

20% is hard to get, along with a decent trade in value, at this time of the year on new stock. I have had the best luck getting good deals trades in December when it's year end, month end, and alot of people are spending on Christmas gifts.

49k is wayyyy to much for a 56k msrp truck. They'd have to be around 45 to get my attention. My Silverado's MSRP was right around 48k and I got

'em down to 38k.

Yeah I agree, this is not a good time to buy, you need to at least try at the end of a quarter...

I have all the time in the world so I can wait if the value / price gets better. Thank you guys for your advice.

A 20% drop or so would be so bad. Like I said if the price difference was like 10k then it wouldn't so bad of a deal.

But keeping my current truck isn't an issue either as I love it and it hasn't given me any of the common issues people have had.

I've been considering trading as well, however I am 7 months into a 39 month lease. My payments are already pretty heavy, and I don't really want to take on much more, nor do i want to finance a ****ing vehicles for 7 years and pay a ridiculous interest rate. I am just so unhappy with my truck that I don't even want another GM - the shaking, vibrating, and pile of shit 5.3 grocery getter engine has driven me crazy for 6 out of the 7 months I've had it. I have almost started driving my wife's camry more often because it is a better ride, more comfortable, and is a lot more fun to drive (has the V6 and paddle shifters). I don't really know what to do, other than consider myself ****ed for another 32 months until I can unload it back to GM and walk away. I CAN say that I probably won't be buying another GM.

If you currently have a trouble free truck then it would be hard to let it go if it were me.
