Front passenger air vent

Well took mine into the dealer today and told them what was going on. I had to leave the truck there due to having other things going on at work. I came back and they informed me that they checked 2 more 2016's on the lot and they had the same characteristics as mine with the far right hand passenger vent not blowing as hard as the others. I dunno I guess it may be a flaw in the 16's somehow .

I just picked up my new 16 LT Z71 two days ago and my wife immediately noticed this issue. Took it in this morning and they changed out the cabin airfilter but the problem is still there. Anyone get this fixed yet? I only have 50 miles on the truck and not happy.

That is the first thing my wife noticed on my 16' as well. I was going to have the dealer check it out at the first service.

Mine too, not surprised. So much junk under the dash the constantly changing duct work size, length and routing suffers and can only compensate so much. Not worth my time to even have the dealer address it for fear of screwing something else up.

I simply place the control on auto, take off the sync and dial the driver's temp higher to increase cooling and flow to the passenger vent and vice versa for heating. Too bad if driver and passenger want the same temperature.... never my problem because the wife is always either to warm or too cold.....and if the passenger is not my wife they get what they get, or can take their complaints to a taxi driver.

That's not nearly as dumb as not having rear vents. Yes I know. We have talked about this to hell and back

F81vnm - I had a salesperson from a competing brand actually mention the lack of rear seat vents. I've really not yet had anyone mention that the cabin doesn't cool back there but I have a question I will ask in lieu of me taking my lazy butt out to check for myself...

I assume there are heater vents under each front seat for the back. Is the cooling evaporator circuit also attached to these?

I have a 2016 Silverardo LTZ. Just got a call back from the dealer. He said the vent is definitely blowing less air than the other vents. The service tech called GM Engineering and a case number was logged. It was explained that this is by design in order to get more air flow toward the rear of the cab and that there currently is no corrective action.

I have to say spending this much $ on a top of the line truck is disappointing.

Paul, I completely agree. I spent over 50k for my truck and expect better. Hopefully they figure something out to fix this issue.

My 2016 Silverado LT 1500 is in the dealership for this exact reason. If you have the center console, you will have this issue. Bench seat trucks do not have this problem. While at the dealership, I compared my truck to trucks on the dealer lot. Center console trucks have this issue. Mine doesn't have the rear air vents out the back of the console either. A TAC case has been opened by my service guy.

What is this passenger seat you speak of?

I've only sat in it a couple of times but usually have to reach over and open the vents as my wife always close them down some. She says it's always too cold.

Not sure about the 15's, but on the 16's the passenger side vent closest to the door puts out a noticeably less amount of air flow

Anyone with the problem tried using the dampers on the other 3 to balance the airflow?

Does it matter what fan position it is on -- meaning when running higher volume (faster fan speeds) does it balance out?

Does it happen on the dual zone systems and on the single zone?

Just curious.

We haven't noticed this on ours (but in fairness I haven't checked either)

Never noticed on my '15 or '16, until I read this lol. But this '16 is a little weaker on the far RH vent, my wife is always freezing in the summer so it works out good for me..
