Trade in a 14 SLT 5.3 for a 16 Denali 5.3 with 15% off. Worth it?

Was at the dealership yesterday as my AC went out, and sales guy showed me a 16 Denali, fully loaded with 15% off for 50K. Fully loaded however, only a 5.3. Is the magnetic ride and other features worth it? If it was a 6.2 I would think I would jump on it, however with a 5.3 not sure. Only 22k miles on my current SLT. Thoughts?

Would think it would depend upon if you can afford the difference in what they will offer on trade for your '14.

Also if you like the restyled front & light upgrade. Apple Android auto etc. Does the '16 have the 8 spd?

So there are some differences to consider.

Nope, starting in 2014 the Sierra Denali standard engine is a 5.3L, pay $2500 if you want a 6.2L. Why, they wanted to sell more Denali trucks and many were not interested in a 6.2L. The Yukon/Yukon XL Denali get the 6.2L standard but no Chevy SUV does.

That 15% discount you might get on the Denali will be quickly evaporated by the bath your going to take by trading in a 2 year old truck.

Drove the Denali. Aside from the ride being a little softer and handling a bit better, definitely not worth it. Some nice add ons, but without the 6.2 it's just a SLT.

I echo the 6.2 comments...I wasn't a big fan of getting one, but I found '16 Denali that has a 6.2L and was 16% MSRP, so I ended up with a Denali and a 6.2L. I originally was looking at SLT, 5.3L with the AT package, but the denali at 16% off was only ~$2k more than the SLT. In the end I am glad I got the 6.2L, and I think most on these forums with the 6.2L do not regret the purchase.

Hey guys it doesn't matter which engine you get in the Denali 1500, both come with the 8-sp tranny for 2016. No 6-spd.

For Chevrolet trucks , the rules change regarding options...but the GMC Denali 1500 is ONLY offered in the US with the 8-speed. No matter which engine you get. Check the GMC website to verify this.

Fwiw, The Denali 1500 4x4 I drove about 2 weeks ago had the 5.3 with the 8 speed.

The 6.2L engine IS an option (5.3l is std)... the 8 speed transmission is standard, either engine you choose.

Memorial Day Sale, the discount that you're getting isn't really special. Ask for 25% or tell them to F off :)
