FINALLY! Some movement on the dangerous headlights on the '14

Just buy some HIDs and don't worry about it

I bought my kit before I bought the truck, don't think I even drove at night with the factory headlights in...

A lot of people don't want to resort to illegal modifications to provide something that they already paid for.

:rollin: Dangerous, these aren't dangerous. It is a bunch of people crying and whining that they aren't HID's or LED's because a couple other manufacturers have them. If those didn't no one would be saying a peep and probably singing praise on how great they are compared to their 2001 Sierra/Silverado.

I could only imagine the fit these people throw when there is an actual dangerous situation.

I bet the headlights are fine, it is all the LCD screens and bright lights throwing people off. I have mine interior lights turned on low, bright lights cause eyes to washout light.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess you all on the suit are requesting an upgrade to 2016 headlights as a satisfactory resolution :dunno:

Would someone care to post a picture of their 2014 headlights on a wall from 20 feet or so?

"Dangerous, these aren't dangerous" "I bet the headlights are fine"

So you're saying they're not dangerous, but your second statement indicates that you've never seen them?

Interested to see how this turns out, only for the sake that many class action lawsuits take years to settle. By the time it does settle, most if not all of us will be on our next truck. Perhaps for the sake or entertainment sake's we should start a poll guessing how many years this will take. Good luck OP suing GM, those with the Chevy Cobalt Key fiasco, got their steering colums replaced or a $500 voucher toward the purchase of a new car. Good luck.

I went to my dealer a month ago got the bulbs changed and they reprogrammed what they needed to. It seems fine . I am glad I found out from this site that there was availability from GM to get fixed for free. So no need for me to get my panties in a wad further about it. They fixed it just like other manufacturers need to do for various things that come up on a first year model.

Personally, I don't particularly care the the look of the 2016 lights, but would like mine to light the back roads I need to travel every night....they just don't cut it in my opinion....never had an issue with my 2006 or 2013 Silverado

When I first bought my 2014 Sierra 1500 and I was driving to my house (rural). I was like are my lights not on. I even stopped and checked and they were on. Then a couple months later I was driving my uncles 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 and I was driving the same road and it was night and day. I could actually see to the sides and see far enough ahead that I was not worried about deer.

My wife refuses to drive my truck at night they are so bad. Her Volvo V50 with the standard headlights are at least 3-4 times brighter and actually extend out to the side.

Even with the new bulbs and the reprogram they are still bad. Better but I would argue not good enough. I can still drive around and keep my high beams on (every now and then I forget lol) and no one will flash me.

ill be the first to say that my Silverado reflector housings with a slyvania zxe bulb out performs my fxr retrofit. there is just not enough light that comes out of a projector for me. I cant imagine having stock projectors

Putting HID's in projector headlights is not illegal, it's legal.

Am I the only one on this board that hasn't had a problem with headlights?

I haven't had any issues with my headlights. 2015 LT Z71. No HID. Drive in San Antonio and rural areas everyother weekend to and from Bandera, TX on hwy 46. I've always had plenty of light and field of view.

GM gets sued everyday.. this will go nowhere. Plus I thought they offer a re-flash and new bulbs that make it a little better? Or good enough I should say.

As stated above, the LCD screens brightness at night as a lot of do with it.

Here's my 2 cents as far as class action suits - --- Rest assured that the legal firm(s) involved stand to collect a hefty settlement for their services. But I wouldn't get your hopes too high for a retrofit or a substantial cut of any cash payout in the final negotiated settlement........owners might get a coupon for extra bucks off in trade against a new vehicle, a certificate for a few free oil changes, a flashlight to tape to the dashboard, etc

Yep, the only people that come out ahead in most class action law suits are the law firms. We'd be lucky to get a few bucks off the purchase of a new truck, but the flashlight might be doable! I adjusted my headlights up so as to hopefully help see the deer on the side of the road before I hit him. But since I probably won't with these headlights, I had the dealer install a grille guard just in case.

I do feel for the guys that bought a '14-15 with the crappy lights. We expect a lot when we shell out a crap load of money for a truck, as well we should. I remember the first few weeks in my new truck thinking ' for $55k this is the best they could come up with for seats?', which is minor compared to poor visibility. Night time visibility is really important to me. I just don't see where this lawsuit will end up to benefit any '14-15 owner.
