Best I've ever gotten. Used to have 35s and wouldn't get over 13mph for this 1200 mile trip. Have made this trip about 8 times in the last year. And I went down a few sizes on tires and it helped a lot.

Great millage on a 2 week, 3000+ mile trip from southwest FL to NC and then to MI and back down to FL. Mostly drove 75-78 on the interstate and even towed a little in NC.

2016 crew standard box 22" rims,5.3 with 3.42 gears.900 miles, all short trips, mixed driving 75% street.Overall 900 mile life average is 17mpg which would be 16mpg hand calculated.Im running mid grade gas thinking of going back to 87 it's .45 cent cheaper per gallon.I know 10 min rides are killing me,don't have time to take it on a trip just yet.

I'm satisfied was trying to break it in,I know I'll get over 20 on a trip.

Just hit 3000 miles in my CC 5.3/8-Speed/3.42. 20.0 average computer calculated so far. I generally baby the throttle around town, but I'm not shy to let it fly on the highway.

Like y'all I have been very pleasantly surprised at the gas mileage this truck has gotten....We average about 21 on our normal run around driving I was expecting and hoping for about 20....our last 2007 Silverado we got 20 very rarely.

If we stay on the back roads and don't speed we have gotten 28.4 two different times.....average about 55 or so and just driving through the country without many traffic lights or stop signs.

I doubt we will ever be able to beat that, but I was surprised to have gotten it on 2 different trips !

I think maybe the regular cab (lighter) and I didn't get the trailering package so I got the 3.08 gears....those things must be helping.

I couldn't ask for any better from this 5.3 V8.

Oh yeah! I mean I knew what mileage they claimed, but figured it was going 55 mph with a tail wind. But, I've gotten some great mileage driving completely normal, running the engine however I please. Very nice motor. I'd love to try the 6.2 sometime, but this one fit my needs/wants better.

I find that anytime it's possible to run with the cruise set for long periods it gets good mileage.

I would have probably ordered the 6.2 in mine too....who knows the way they are going we might get 30mpg from these V8's one day with regularity.

My Dad had a 84 Silverado with the 305 and didn't get 14mpg....and I think it had 170HP if I'm not mistaken,

Things have come a long way !

Three tanks thru the truck in my signature. Driving exclusively in M5 around suburbia, and using the Range AFM Delete Module for extended highway jaunts. Just under 2000 miles on truck so far. Probably less than 5-6 miles in V4 mode since I bought it 4 weeks ago. Hand calculated vs. what the "lie-O-meter" in the dash says!!!

1st tank...................19.0...................display reading 19.4

2nd tank..................21.2...................display reading 21.9

3rd tank...................21.9....................display reading 22.4

No idea what the mileage is and don't really care......you do not buy a vehicle of this size to save gas. Only time I even think about gas is when the gauge hits 1/4 or below and I pump in the stuff until the nozzle clicks off with tier 1 gasoline only.

Best mileage was downhill, 7 miles, steep grade, at 60mph... didn't touch the accelerator hardly. Top one is more realistic 70% highway, 21 miles home from work.

On the contrary, I knew buying a 6k lb truck with a 350 hp V8 wouldn't get Prius like numbers, but getting 20ish mpg going back and forth between my gf's hometown 120+ miles every other weekend is much better than maybe 16 on a good day with my old truck. I may not have bought this truck for mileage specifically, but definitely pleasantly surprised at the mileage I am very easily getting driving normally. That was the point of my post, not necessarily obsessing over max mpg's. It's nice not having to think about dollar bills burning up so fast in this truck.

Then why are you posting in this thread then??!!!!!

Because one thing you learn after 50 years of driving is prioritizing the important things in life and the the futility of wasting time worrying about irrelevant crap which includes constantly measuring, comparing and agonizing over a vehicles mileage. If you need or desire a particular vehicle you must pay the price and once purchased you will pay for fuel no matter what the actual mpg gets in the real world.

If I must post my best mileage: the last mpg I ever checked was on my '74 Impala 454 that had more air pollution equipment than a coal fired electric plant and its best was 4 mpg on a good day. I've paid as little as 22 cents a gallon in the '60s to as much as $7.50 a gallon when stuck on the road in the '70s and was glad to pay for every drop.

Wow, I hope to be as old, and wise, and inconsiderate of others as you are someday. You really are a shining beacon of hope!

If you don't care, get lost. Some people do. I don't care either but it is still interesting to me! I don't feel the need to go into threads about topics I think are stupid and throw my un-wanted opinion in there. Are you feeling neglected at home or something? :shakehead:
