Hopefully they continue the regular cab trucks in 2019 when the next generation Silverado comes out . If not I will just buy a 2018 . I built a 2017 regular cab with every option that my 2014 has and it came to 43,000. Ouch!!!! It is actually cheaper to by a double cab because of the rebates . The most you see off on a regular cab is 1,500 to 2,000.

My '14 Reg Cab Long Bed window sticker totaled $43,000.00. I purchased my truck brand new in August of 2014. Total discount with rebates was $7,000.00. Paid $36,000.00 plus tax, etc.

I work at a Chevy dealer and we had a '16 Z71 come in a few weeks ago. First one I've seen around here. We had a '14 sit on the lot for over a year and they had to discount the crap out of it to sell it. Well I decided I was going to buy this '16 and this one sold the night before I was going to talk to the sales dept about it. Turns out the son of the guy who bought the '14 wanted it.

Anyways, there's one other '16 in my area that I can buy but it's frowned upon to buy from another dealer and they won't swap with other dealers for employee cars.

Do I order a '17 or should I buy the '16 somewhere else and deal with the sales dept at my work giving me a hard time about it? I'm planning on leasing and buying it if in 3 years the new Silverado isn't any better. They tell me a lease on a '17 would be cheaper because the residual value will be higher at the end of the lease. But I'm guessing at this point it's going to be 3 or 4 months before I see one since you can't even order one yet.

I don't work for GM or a GM dealer but I understand what you are saying. I never leased a vehicle - always purchased - new or used - so can't say leasing is good or bad in your situation.

I do know this time of year you should be able to get a fairly good deal on a '16 if you can find one equipped the way you like. I was fortunate to find my '14 - only not so close to home -

my truck was in stock at a dealer about an hour and 50 minutes away.

Since you work for a Chevy dealer you would think they would be willing to work with you on a new '16 or new '17. Good luck with your search.

They're willing to work with me, but we only got in that one '16 so I'll have to order a '17 at this point. If I wanted a crew or double cab I could get one next to nothing. It stinks that's there is no real incentives on regular cabs. I can get $2500 off on top of employee price. that brings a $42K truck down to $35K and change. Still too much to buy outright, so that's why I'll be leasing and then possibly buying after.

I would not bat an eye at going to the other dealer if that is the truck you want. If it is not exact then order. I get that it is frowned on but screw em. Your money your truck. If they had one at your dealer obviously you would buy there but they dont and wont trade.

2016 regular cab LT Z71 was $44k minus $3500 GM incentive so right at $40k and some change before trade. The CC incentives were much larger. They also gave me a $3500 trade in allowance on top of my trade in some May dealer promotion so I pulled the trigger.

I agree completely...that is one reason they don't sell as well....the rebates aren't near what they should be on the regular cabs.

If you buy a regular cab it's because you really wanted that style truck, because the best deals are always on the crew and double cab.

My previous truck was a 3 door double cab. Out of 14 years of ownership very rarely had a full passenger limit in it. Most often it is just me or me & wife in it. I went with a regular cab & love it. When I was a kid regular cab Silverados were all my father would drive, i lost him two years ago, so to me there is a little sentimental value in my regular cab. I enjoy the feeling in a regular cab truck, to me they are more fun to drive. Only problem is finding one that isn't white, stripped down for a job site. No profit for companies to make them much anymore, the demand is for crew & double cabs.

I know exactly where are you coming from, growing up all my Dad ever drove was short bed regular cabs too....when you grow up seeing trucks like that they just stick with you.

They were all over the cool TV shows back then too....Rockford Files Daddy Rocky drove one, John on Chip's drove one, Judge Hardcastle on Hardcastle and McCormick...Lee Majors on the Fall Guy.....they were everywhere !

I had a Avalanche from 2002-2007 loved it, it was the only non-regular cab I ever bought.....As much as I loved it....first time I drove the new regular cab in 2007, I knew I wanted a regular cab again.....like you say, just more fun to drive (and park...lol).

I just like the looks of a regular cab. IMO they are more sporty looking . I agree they are easier to park and fun to drive . They take up less room in the garage and there is no back seat area to clean ! Lol ......

Before I had a Corvette I use to call my regular cab trucks a poor mans Corvette! I had a 2000 that was probably the last year you could get bucket seats and a console, not a fold down seat but a console. It was a 2 seater! I also had a 1979 reg cab with buckets and console and it was the last year you could get a 454 in a reg cab or a 1500 for that matter. Did some work to the engine and I use to surprise the hell out of the Bandit Trans Am's that were around at that time.

Ram will still let you build a regular cab with the full console. That '79 sounds sick though!

I recently looked at a '99 LS with a console and a 5 speed manual and 4.8L. There's just to much rust on the old ones around here. It's why I had to get rid of my old '99. I should have just kept it and did a frame swap.

I wish the seat backs on my '14 would fold forward to access the area behind the seat like the bench seat in my '91 Chevy Silverado.

In my '14 Reg Cab you must slide the passenger seat fully forward then tilt the back forward to get to the jack. The middle seat doesn't move -

at least I can't see how it can. Driver seat is power so I loose my settings if I move it forward to access the rear area - no memory on my SLE

driver power seat.

Oh heck the area behind the seat in my '14 reg cab is so much smaller than in my '91 so can't store as much as the '91 anyway.
