Demand foe scsb is so low that it is probably a pain in the ass for them to run a few production days here and there . That said like others have said if you want one here is the price . Better deals and price on 4 doors no doubt but like a few I bought a rcsb last year myself. There is no ''value '' per se. in buying one for sure .

I'd think the materials would be less though...less steel, glass, not as many seats.....lot of things.

You would be surprised, the material is probably only one of the smaller costs in overall production.

Another example: If you ever buy a canopy and look at price of shortbox vs regular they are very close to same price. One has as much less material as the cab would (roughly anyway but not exact) yet the price is driven more by the other manufacturing costs such as labor, logistics, overhead such as just running power in the factory and many more factors the $50 saved in materials is just a drop in that ocean of production.

The materials used to build a regular cab vs double cab vs a crew cab differ in quantity. (More or less bread and peanut butter!) The cost to build is probably similar. The price difference between a regular cab and a "supercab" in the 70's and 80's was significant. Last year when I was looking for a truck there was about a $4,000 difference between a DC and a CC. I believe supply is more of an influence on the demand and if gm offered us a greater choice of well priced regular cabs, the demand would increase. (IMO)

For those of us that own newer rcsb trucks take a look around we pretty much a very small minority in truck buying segment. Dealer after dealer will have 100 plus trucks on lot of every configuration and color but maybe have one or two rcsb. Dealer may have eight or ten long beds at most . Just wish GM would offer 6.2 in rcsb. What to hell if you already into it for 40,000 what is another 2,500 option.

I reckon it's the rebates that need to be a little more fair from the Crew-Double and Regular Cab.....at least it would help.

I know my Dad got a Crew Cab last year and got $10,000 off list....$44,000 list and bought it for $34,000......Mine Regular Cab listed for $38,700 and I got it for $34,000....The rebates are just huge on the crew cabs.

I will pay the extra because the regular cab is what I wanted, but most people will follow the best deal money wise....can't help the sales of the regular cab.

You figure when they do run a batch of rcsb shorter frame , exhaust , brake lines ,etc and they switch production for a few builds at a time .I guess with demand low you keep price up there .

In my neck of the woods it seems i see quite a few regular cab LT shortbeds. But hardly any regular cab LT's with the 8ft bed. To me thats always been the best looking truck body configuration. 8ft bed regulr cab.

That isn't how the plants are run. No such thing as batches of trucks. It can be one after other is totally different.

I worked on assembly line for 24 years. We ran Altima 4 cylinder, Altima 6 cylinder, Altima 4 cyl. coupe, Altima 6 cyl, coupe, Maxima, & leaf (electric), all down the line at sametime. U read the broadcast on front bumper fascia, grab your parts & move on. Your work station has many parts, on some jobs the parts go on everything, on some every car has a different part to it. We do not run a "batch" of anything. Only thing we do is we do run many of the same color at a time. We ran 62 cars a hour, make a mistake, no time to fix, pull the light, tell offline guy your sequence number & defect, hope he gets it, on to the next.

Saw this and was concerned before common sense kicked in LOL

KInda sucks no LTZ option on the RCSB...woulda made my choice harder. That being said, there were a LOAD of ECSB Silverados around when I was a kid, so that is the quintessential pickup truck look for me.

Nice to see all these RCSB trucks... always thought of them as the sporty versions!

I just noticed the 2017 trucks use 1234YF refrigerant. I didn't see this change in any of the online new for '17 lists.

Pricing info is up on the GM family first site. Looks like the are about $700 more than the '16s. Rear camera is standard on the LT and there is no option for Duratrack tires this year. still a 6 speed trans even though there were rumors that all Silverados were going to 8 speed.

2015 crew cab standard bed built in flint...

Were the short bed crew cabs still being built in Mexico and the standard bed in flint?

Seems like I always get a 50/50 answer.
