From what I can tell, there is no way to invoke Pandora, other than via the touch screen.

 

Why in the heck couldn't an option be provided in the steering wheel control Audio context-menu to select pandora.

 

It would also seem to me that a voice command such as "play pandora" or "tune pandora" to invoke pandora couldn't be terribly hard to do given what I already see in the system.......

 

 

....unless of course you CAN do this, and I am missing it, or too bone-headed to figure it out....

I would think that pressing the talk button on the steering wheel and asking Siri to "play Pandora" would work if you were in Apple play. (Plugged in)

Not sure about SIri as I am a 'droid kind of guy. Andorid Autoplay will do it via the Google Assistant, or whatever they call it. But, for android auto, you have to wire your phone in.

 

AS Pandora is a "native" part of the GMC system and provided with it as part of the "package", I was just wondering why they wouldn't have integrated that product into their functionality. Again, not a big deal at all, just a question.

For the record, I just tried it with the IPhone.

 

If I am connected via Bluetooth It did respond and played when I pressed the steering wheel button and it played via Bluetooth.

 

I also tried when I was plugged in and apply play responded to my voice and played thru the USB and it sounded better.

With Apple Car play connected no need to press the steering just say the lastest phones don't need to be connect for hey Siri. Just say, hey Siri open Pandora!, Sorry OP IMO Android auto its not as refined as ACP.

 

Day 11 I agree, blu-tooth just lacks SQ, I don't use blu-tooth for music.

Is the voice command buried in the 'Bluetooth' voice commands perhaps?

The Pandora app on the screen plays with a data package through OnStar, it is not for the phone connections as far as I know.

 

I can get to Pandora through bluetooth with either voice commands (siri) or pressing the media button and hoping Pandora was the last thing I was listening to. I usually just wire it in though (have a cord coming through the armrest, pretty nice IMO) and use Apple Carplay.

 

Would have been nice if the Pandora app on the screen worked through a phone!

I just tested it on mine and using the voice command on the steering wheel and it will not bring up Pandora. This is on a 2015 Denali.

Funny because my 2015 Colorado had an actual Pandora app on the MyLink home screen...

oh... its not an actual carplay or android auto option, you either connect via usb cable or Bluetooth, you must be disconnected from you ACP or AA. Its a stand alone app that requires phone either blu-tooth or direct connection from you phone. See steps 3 & 4.

 

Getting Started

 

1. Download the FREE Pandora app on your Android ™or iPhone™ smartphone.
2. Connect your smartphone to the vehicle’s audio system:
   • iPhone™ devices via USB (newer models may allow connection via Bluetooth)

I do not believe it's fed by OnStar, but by the data plan on your phone. I have a Droid Turbo, and I can connect via BlueTooth to Pandora and play it through the native app while it uses my data stream.

i believe its through BT as well... i was listing to all my favorites on youtube the other day , and it was playing through the speakers... ..i just launch pandora or whatever via the phone.. i dont even use that button.

I think if your phone is plugged in via USB cable, you can say "Play Pandora" and it will play. Bluetooth it will not. I haven't tried it in a while as I cancelled my Pandora but plug it in and give it a try.

The app on the MyLink screen is fed by OnStar data I believe. If you play through your phone it can work over blutooth otherwise you can get it on screen through the CarPlay menu as well and that will play it through your phone but be on your screen as well.
