Lemon Replaced with another Lemon

Got my brand new 2015 Silverado LTZ in Feb of 15 with 100 miles. 800 miles later had it towed to the dealership and had my transmission replaced. 1000 miles later more transmission issues. 500 later drivetrain noise. 2-3 weeks later and a lot of crying in my part GM repurchased the vehicle. This ended up costing me over 500 dollars out of pocket and started my loan payments all over.

I got approximately 5 thousand miles out of this truck before it left me stranded with a dead battery. Jumped the vehicle and thought maybe I left something on. Later that night I noticed the interior lights dimmed but wouldn't go out. This was what was causing my dead battery. Dealership down loaded new software which fixes the issue. Then my brakes started squeaking. Had the truck 2-3 times before they replaced rear brakes and rotors pads. Which fixed issue. Just took my truck in with a vibration in the dash and with a chirping noise. Took them 4 days to fix the vibration. They gave the truck back and advised they have to replace the whole exhaust system but had to order the parts

I purchased a new truck so I don't have to take it to the dealership every month for repair but end up there anyways.

My truck now has 12k and need an exhaust system and my rattle/vibaration is starting up again. VERY UnHAPPY with GM

Well Z28,2 things let anyone else who is looking for a truck to be aware of this and to have someone from GM who is not a 19 year old girl with zero Experience in the car industry to get a hold of me to have a reasonable conversation with.

well the GM cust service reps are on this forum and are helpful, but perhaps not making a screename with the maturity level of a 19 year old girl might get a better response from them. ;)

I think most of us on here are aware of the few guys that have had real bad experiences, but the amount of us who love our trucks and have had a great experience are far more.

I truly hope you can get this squared away, I think everyone who owns a 14+ Silverado should deserve to have a great experience and absolutely love their truck, I know I am 110% happy with mine. good luck!

There is a simple solution to your problem, trade it in on another brand of truck! You will take a loss but then you will be in another brand of truck that I am sure has never had any owners with any issues what so ever and life will be great again.

Great looking forward to working with them. As far as trading it in I would love to,but then I would be taking a loss. All I want is what I paid for the most long lasting most dependable truck on the road. 50k for a truck/trucks with major issues in the first year and 12k miles is total unacceptable. I think we all agree on that. Z28 next time I am in FL I would love to run that yellow camaro my SS is in Ocala.

Sorry GM for your bad experience.

Good Luck! :happysad:

Well not every vehicle will be perfect, but all brands have bad ones and have trouble with brand new. I've had my '14 since April of '14 and has 28,000 miles on it. The only issue was loose u-bolt nuts which wasn't a big deal since it took all of 10 minutes to torque them to spec. Other than that, it's been great with no issues and still rides nice.

Also I know there's people with real problem trucks, but if you look at all of the K2 platform trucks sold, the problem trucks are a fraction of 1%. The only real issue people are having is vibrating. Some have been easily fixed while some can't get it figured out.

By the way, the more you pay for a truck you're just paying for features, not necessarily better quality. Some people seem to get confused with that and that goes with any manufacturer.

I had a 2007 Silverado I put 100,000 trouble free miles on. I did nothing but routine maintenance on and nothing more. The truck didn't have a single rattle in it when I traded it for my 2015 Silverado. I have had absolutely no problems in 23,000 miles on it and get 20 plus mpg all the time. My point is GM makes good trucks, but all makes including GM can put one out with issues. The chances of getting two bad ones in a row seem extremely high, but I guess it could happen. I would say try another brand if you are unhappy.

Your second truck doesn't sound like a lemon, but once you have a dislike for a product it is hard to focus on the positive. Changing brands may find you with a trouble free experience so this may be worthwhile. Personally, I would enjoy my truck and take full advantage of my warranty.

Yeah even Toyota is having a rough time with quality. Based on the Tacoma World forums, the 2016+ Tacomas have been having a ton of quality issues. Oil leaks from the engine, transmissions that slip and shift sluggishly, rear differentials that whine so loud the radio can't even drown it out, bad crankshaft position sensors that left the owners stranded. Quality issues happen, especially with how many Silverado and Sierra 1500's are made each year. We're talking over 800,000 trucks each year. It happens. I've been very happy with mine, guess I got lucky.
