Chevy Noob, Few Questions

2016 SBRC WT, 5.3, 6 speed auto, 3.42 rear. Stock everything.

60 miles round trip to work every day, half of which is stop and go in traffic with the I-10 Bayway and Tunnel in Mobile Alabama (80 MPH to stopped multiple times during rush hour traffic) thrown in for good measure.

2900 miles on the truck averaging between 21.5 and 22 MPG overall.

Not impressed with the nitrogen filled tires as the pressure bounces between 32 and 38 PSI with temperature fluctuations between 65 and 85 degrees.

Haven't hammered it yet, but this 5.3 seem to have a good bit more oooph than my 2005 5.3 did.

The rear end may come down an inch or two eventually (block removal and /or shackle kit) but the front will never get lifted.

I drive a regular cab 4.3. It's pretty good, has way more power than I expected. At 3900 miles, my mpgs have settled to around 23-24 mpg per tank, usually, and that's 60% highway driving and 40% stop and go traffic. You won't be disappointed with it that's for sure.

Your probably better off getting a fiat ram and putting that gay ass lean on it. Don't forget to put out the tow mirrors

Ugh I just saw an F250 yesterday with tires that stuck out a foot from the fender and the front end lifted a good 4-5" higher than the rear and the largest town mirrors I've ever seen. Big ass diesel stacks coming out of the bed. I don't know how anyone thinks that looks good or is useful. It's as stupid as the kids with their hondas who put max camber on their wheels so they ride on the edge of the tire.

Because half inch is considered "gay ass lean". Probably about the size of your penis, but thanks for your helpful input.

Well based on mpg answers on this forum all is 5.3l guys are stuck around 16 and the 6.2l guys are in the 20's

Mine 5.3 rarely has a tankful less than 20.

Maybe it's not, but bringing up my penis sure as hell is

yea, its off topic, but this made me laugh.

how else are those guys without trailers going to remember to extend those mirrors? They fold them in to park, but drive down the road with them sticking way out like elephant ears. awesome.

5.3 all the way. I have owned 2 shorty's with that engine and they are a hoot to drive. I took a 1400 mile round trip in my 04 (low-rider with 20's) to Reno and averaged almost 22 mpg. that trip goes from sea level to over 9500 feet elevations in northern California. much better resale value too when it's time to get another truck.

My 09 had the 5.3 and it was also a hoot to drive! The new 4.3 puts out about the same power as these older versions of the 5.3 and it is very difficult to notice the difference!

There is nothing wrong with the v6, it has good power and economy. The 5.3 will be smoother and more powerful but will use more fuel. The 6.2L is a beast, but is an expensive option, is even more thirsty and requires premium fuel. Make sure to get the optional differential gearing which will greatly improve performance.

I agree on the gearing with an exception. If his goal is mpg and he runs hwy mostly would the 308 not be ok?

Really? I thought 323 was only with an 8 speed. Figured all 6 speed trucks were 308 or 342 unless max tow has 373 maybe with a 5.3. So a scsb 4.3 2wd comes with a 323 rear?
