High line LTZ / STL and above get 8spd

LT / SLE get 6spd

I love my SLT 6.2 8spd NHT max tow

NHT is the only way to get 3.42 gear instead of 3.24 with 6.2

^3.23 he means.

And the LTZ/SLT comes with a 8-spd, 3.42 as well.

Can't get the 8 sp in a extended cab with the 5.3.

Sure can, just needs to be SLT, LTZ or above trim level

Personally I wouldn't even think of buying another sierra/silverado until GM proves that the 8-speed isn't a complete piece of shifting & clunking garbage like the current one. It the one thing that honestly has given me buyer's remorse with this truck. I feel like I was swindled.

My dealer has both? One SLT with a 6spd. and one with an 8spd....

Yes this is correct. Must have one of GAT, PDT, NHT or L86 for the SLT crew to get the 8 speed.

On DC it must have the L86 (6.2) to get he 8 speed.

You thank the EPA and CAFE standards for that.

Get a tune. It'll be the best $400-500 you've spent. Had one on my 1500 and it was a whole new truck.

I am right there with you. My first to second gear feels like i'm getting rear ended everytime I drive it. I absolutely hate it. Stealership told me it's a "normal... well normal issue", but refused to do anything. I'm waiting for the class action. I bought this truck with plans to lift it and now I'm afraid to do anything as when the transmission finally blows, i'm sure they'll blame it on the lift.
