Anzo USA vs Recon 3rd brakelight

I ordered the Anzo U Bar headlights and I'm very happy the the quality and the fit. I installed Xtreme LED low beams and Xtreme HID High beams. After that I moved on to the rear of the truck.

I chose the Recon OLED Dark Red smoked tail lights. and replaced the OEM backup bulbs with the Putco Plasma LED.

After that I moved on the the 3rd Brake light fixture.

I chose the Anzo Light smoke http://www.anzousa.com/chevy-silverado-1500-2014-l-e-d-3rd-brake-light-smoke.html

The fit and finish are fine. I didn't mind having to wire the OEM plug from the original to the Anzo.

But the intensity of the light when on the brakes in the daytime is a joke.

It's not even as bright as the OEM incandescent.

The whole idea of the 3rd brake light is to get someones attention in case they aren't paying attention.

Does anyone know if the Recon is any better or is there a third option?

Brakes are applied in the picture.

Man that third brake light is barely showing... but yeah that's kinda disappointing on those tailights as well.. I'm in the market myself for some and from the looks of it anzo is off the list

The tail lights are Recon. They look awesome at night. But the 3rd brake light is a joke even at night.

Yeah they do look good at night.. but my problem with them is during the day... to many dumb drivers out there and I need bright lights to catch there eye..

Has anyone tried the Recon Third brake light? I hate to buy one and have the same issue I have now with the Anzo.

I'm tempted to just retro the OEM with LED bulbs.

I've got the Recon and its just as bad as the Anzo shown above, if not worse. I guess thats the price you pay to have it smoked. I think i'll be returning to my OEM light.

The clear one looked so Euro or Import that wasn't for me.

I think your right. I'm going to investigate putting Putco Plasma LEDs in my OEM.

Anyone know if the 2017 OEM is LED?

Chris,

We are planning on the HP brake light for the newest generation GM trucks. We are going to have them available this fall!

Best regards,

I just poked around their site and a Bot popped up asking if they could help me. I asked about the new 3rd brakelight and all I got was radio silence.

I wanted to revive this topic. I am in the market for some new headlights and smoked tail lights. How are these holding up? Any update on the 3rd tail light?

Are those Recon tail lights plug-and-play? I'm assuming they have the resistors built-in?

yes - i have recon tail lights  and you just plug them in and you are good to go.
