Ziebart or Not???

Just bought a new Ltz, CC. Ziebart wants $550 the first time and $40 each each after that for the undercoating protection. Anyone recommend this on a new HD. Thanks. ??

From what I've read on the 1500 side of the forum, it only works if they scrape off the waxy stuff first. And at that price, I'm guessing they aren't.

I suppose I'm going to bite the bullet and oil spray this year. I bought all the supplies to do fluid film, but after researching what it does to frame wax my plan was to apply in the summer and then reapply in fall after the damage was done to the wax. I kind of drug my feet for too long.

I haven't used Ziebart, but I have had the last 3 new vehicles I have bought done with Auto Armor corrosion protection and paint protection packages. Have never gotten any rust issue that amounted to much. And my vehicles all have to deal with the salt / potassium chloride whatever on the roads in the winter, a lot of rocks banging the underside year round since the vehicles have to deal with several miles of gravel roads to and from the house every time they are driven, etc. I always got the jobs done on these vehicles before taking it off the dealer's hands when I bought them. A 2006 Jeep Liberty diesel, a 2013 1500, and a 2015 2500.

Ziebart has been reputable from all I have heard, but have no direct experience with them.

I have used the Amsoil HD metal protector with some good results on my commercial trucks. I pretty good product. Not fool proof, but a good short term measure. Spray it on, let it dry, and it doesn't hold dirt. Will hold for several high pressure washes. I get it by the case.

Ziebart has been around a long time. Does it work? Yes. Lived in Michigan years ago when it first hit the market. If the install is a quality job it works well.

If you 're going to do it, do it now before the crude gets in places that are going to be coated. :happysad:

Indeed! Getting it done before a vehicle ever sees dirt or bad weather is the best approach for the best results.

Check your gm warranty this service may make your new truck warranty void

Got my Truck Ziebarted.. They closed the shop the next year. Leaving me with out the yearly check ups. They are a pain to deal with.

I wasn't planning on getting it done @ the dealer but the snow & cruddy weather we've gotten since it arrived there changed my mind. Not sure how effective it would be in trying to get it undercoated if the entire underbody/chassis is wet w/ the salt & brine they dump on the highways here.

Thanks for everyone's input. Probably goin to sign up for it sooner than later. Can't see how this would void the warranty. Not sure if they scrap some of the factory "undercoating" (the black waxy stuff) off first it could void the 3 yr rust free part of the warranty??? Any ideas????

They drill holes in various areas to get their product places from what I was told. Once you start tinkering with the sheet metal, I can see why GM wouldn't back any corrosion issues.

Well, in my case, then the dealer is on the hook. Every dealership in my area, irregardless of OEM brand, offers the Auto Armor version of all of this. Yes, it does require some holes in the body, especially door and rocker panels, to inject their stuff. As for how the dealership is going to deal with that if there is a conflict with the OEM (haven't heard of one), is anyone's guess. I have not had a vehicle have rusting issues before the body warranty ran out.
