I posted last week I was getting a bad shake while up shifting and a horrible shake in 8th gear at highway speeds and I noticed the tach would jump about 50 rpm up and down during the shaking. My first thought was the torque converter or transmission was slipping. Dealer just called me and said it's fixed and there was a bulletin posted nov 29th to flush the tranny 3 times to fix the problem. Anyone hear of that bulletin? I can't find it online anywhere, I have a feeling it's just a bandaid fix. I see it going back into the shop for a new converter next week ?

Look for PIP5337c

I had a similar issue. Would be cruising at say 55 and the truck would shudder and the RPMs would go up momentarily. It was a torque converter issue and the bulletin replaced the TQC but also says to flush out the lines. I had my dealer do it, and it solved the problem.

Only issue is whatever they did, I know have hard 1-2 and 2-3 shifts and the flare shifts(never had that when truck was new) and it makes a weird whiney friction noise in 1st and 2nd gear, especially when cold. So my truck is back in the show getting that addressed..,...

Well I picked it up this morning and the dealer said after the flush it should smooth out after 200 miles. The shaking is gone but I can see the tach still moving. I'll have 200 miles on it after this weekend so we'll see if it is a permanent fix or not. I still think the converter is the problem though. Dealer said if it doesn't completely repair it the will order a new converter.

just got mine back too, they forgot to "zero out" the solenoids when they reset the TCM. They also did the fast learn, so it if shifting better and no more noise form the solenoids! happy camper again

Glad you got yours fixed, how long was it in the shop to replace the converter? I'm gonna be upset if it's in the shop for a week while waiting for a new converter to get shipped out.

Hmmm, I wonder if there is a contamination issue with these that they are wanting to clean out the system? I can see a dirty fluid can cause TQ issues down the road.

I change my transmission fluid out completely at around 5k on a new vehicle. I just feel better about it and switching it out to a full synthetic to help on cold morning warm ups and protect on hot day towing tasks. Yes, I'm old school.

In my opinion the flushing service bulletin is just a bandaid fix to get by till the warranty is out. Lots of guys lately I've noticed have had torque converter problems and gm won't admit it...just my opinion

The flushing the metal shaving out and slashing the warranty is working out great for GM. It eliminates having to replace the converters before the 60k mile warranty runs out.

Had my ex wife's Cruze transmission fluid changed by a dealer and after a few thousand miles had nothing but issues with it surging after that. Dealer couldn't duplicate the surging. It was really annoying. Seemed like torque converter issues. Not doing that with my Cruze, just going to run the trans fluid until the damn thing blows up. Sometimes I think it's better to just leave some things alone. Edited by Daryl Z71

I believe what GM is doing with the flush procedure is getting additional friction modifier in the clutch pack.

This whole 8spd trans thing has been a fiasco to watch. When the 8spd came out I was so bummed I got a 6psd in my 14. Not anymore. Maybe in about 5 more years GM will have the 8spd polka dance figured out. The older I get in life (33 now) seems like the more I'm going more and more to the idea that I want the last year of a car, engine, trans etc. By the last year or two it's now "fixed". And once all the bugs are gone the manufactures change it up with a new model! My '07 6.0 F250 that everyone swore was the biggest piece of crap had zero issues. I knew a few other '07 6.0 guys and they were the same, zero issues. So of course what came next, the '08 new super duty a whole new slew of issues. It's like people forget this song and dance. my wife has a '15 Enclave now. It's an older platform crossover and we've had only one A/C issue in 2yrs, which is common on that platform (rear evap leak). NO recalls etc. My truck just had it's umpteenth computer recall done last Friday. I'll probably buy the last year they make the K2XX. Literally, the last one that rolls out of the factory.

What kind of surging? My daughters Cruze seemed to surge in 5th and it turned out to be the coil. I changed out her transmission fluid to AMSOIL's ATL at 5k miles and it is doing great and is at 42k. Same thing on my Cruze diesel. I got it used with 13k on it and had the fluid changed out at 15k and it has 37k on it now and shifts fine.

Going up large hills and mountains would really make it surge, didn't seem to matter what gear it was in. I tried changing spark plugs, swapped the coil with the one in my Cruze, etc. Nothing ever fixed it. Figured it was either the converter or transmission because nothing else ever fixed it.
