Hello,

Brand new to this site and tons of great info. Im attempting to reach out to pgamboa for the DL3 mirror upgrade. Its obvious you spent some time and figured this confusion out for most of us. With that said i would like to take you up on the over to do the conversion for me. I have purchased and installed the full compliment mirror package with what i think is the ambient light sensor on the bottom side of the passaenger mirror. I have installed the harness that came with them (DL3) and only get the signals (both) and tilt only on drivers side. I can send back the originals that came with the truck (DL8) for the core. I own a 2016 Silverado 2500 HD. Not sure whatever info you would need or how to go about completing this transaction with you? Super excited to get this saga behind me and start enjoying my upgrades. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 crew cab z71 LT. I have just the basic mirrors, power heat manual fold.

I would like to have some harnesses made for the power fold tow mirrors. Can you tell me what I need to purchase from you harness wise and how to get them. And where do you recommend getting the mirrors from. Thank you

Bought a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE with power and heated mirrors. Got the dealer to throw in a few things, one of which is tow mirrors. They installed the model with power glass, heated, turn signals, clearance and cargo lights; but of course didn't install the harnesses to get the lights to work. So now they're just power glass and heated.

So, I went looking for a way to get the lights to work and finally ran across this awesome thread which looks like the perfect answer.

This is awesome if it's as simple as installing a couple of harnesses.

I'll definitely PMing pgamboa to get a set of harnesses if they'll work to get the lights on the mirror to work.

Yes

the pins are missing from the cabin side.

If Pin 1 is missing, along with the other pins you mentioned, I'm afraid there is going to be a lot more work than I can tell. Adding power mirrors to a truck that doesn't have power mirrors, locks, or windows will be challenge that I am not able to confirm will work or not.

Please PM me to move forward. If you used the DL3 Harness Set with your DL3 Mirrors on your truck that came with DL8 mirrors, this is the expected behavior. You should have also lost full control of the passenger side. I can get you setup on a harness set that should make this plug and play.

Please PM me and can move forward with purchasing a harness set.

Thanks for PM'ing me! I'll get you squared away.

I'd like to order a harness from you how do I go about doing this? I didn't see anything in the description for directions on ordering. I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT with DL8 mirrors, power mirror and manual fold. I have all the pins on the body harness for the mirrors #'s 41, 11, 9, 3. I already own A1 auto tow mirrors that are heated, power mirror, turn signal, parking lamp, and puddle lamp. Thanks

Hey Pgamboa,

Very glad I found this forum and thread, lots of great info here.

I just bought (7/8/17) a 2017 Chevy 2500HD Z71 LTZ 6.6LD with the DL3 mirrors, I do have memory settings/seats, and would like the DQS tow mirrors. I plan on installing myself, and was originally told (by the tech at the dealership) this is what I needed to add them to my truck.

GM Part# Mirrors, Trailering, Chrome - GM (23372181) and Trailering Wire Harness Kit - GM (23387133)

After ready this thread it seems the advise I got from the tech is way off???

I don't mind buying GM parts or yours if needed, but would want the OEM GM mirrors.

What would you suggest the best course of action and parts would be to swap from the DL3 to DQS tow mirrors would be in my case?

Im just a bit confused at this point, as what to order. Cant wait to get it all ready to tow my CTS-V to track :)

Thank you for your help!

Rick

Hey Rick,

Yep, they were way off. If you want power folding, you'll want DQS Mirrors. The part # they gave you (Part #23372181) is a "Kit" that includes Driver and Passenger in one kit. They are chrome but they are not power folding. That mirror set is a DPN mirror set. Also, the harness kit (Part #23387133) is a RZY Jumper Harness that is generally required for all 2014 and some early 2015 trucks. One way to tell and be 100% that the RZY Jumper is not needed is by inspecting the door jamb connector. In the beginning of this thread, I explain that with photos on how to check. You essentially want to confirm that pins 9, 11, and 41 exist in the door jamb connector (on the cab side, going into the cabin). If those 3 pins are present, you DO NOT need the RZY Jumper.

OK - As for mirrors, you'll want DQS. The part #s for those are as follows (you have to purchase them individually):

Driver - 84041609

Passenger - 23351796 Gas

Passenger - 23351798 Diesel (If you have diesel, you must get the diesel mirror which has the temp sensor underneath)

For Harnesses, you'll want:

Driver - 23342727

Passenger - 23342716

I don't stock mirrors. I only stock harnesses. You can get the harnesses from GM, or can get a set from me. I build the equivalent to the part #s I provided. I also offer a $ back guarantee if you buy my harness set and a $40 core refund if you send me your stock harness so I can do this all over again for the next member :).

Let me know if you need anything else. Please PM if you'd like to order a harness set.

Thanks!

Hello,

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LT, with dl8. Standard mirrors that only adjust the mirror. I would like Tow mirrors that will power fold. Do you recommend any mirrors? How do I get your harness and what functionally will I gain?

Hey there... 2014 will have a little more work than later years. In the very first post, I explain the requirements of the RZY Jumper Harness that you'll need. This will be in addition to a custom door panel harness. Upgrading from DL8 to Towing Mirrors is achievable but will require some work on your part.

Your door jamb connector (X500 - Driver's Side) will not have pins 9 and 11, and may not have 41. These are the turn Signal, park lamp and Cargo lamp. Once you get those circuits landed (with the RZY Jumper (Part #23387133), then with my PnP harnesses, this will work.

Let me know if you have any additional questions. PM me for more info on ordering.

    • I just brought home a 2020 GMC 1500 Denali.  She has 53K miles on her and I want to change out the fluids over the next few weeks.  I see the diff covers don't have drain plugs.  Any suggestions where I can pick up front and rear diff covers with drain plugs?   Thanks,   Bob
    • Well, the dealership got the compressor and installed it. Air at the vents seems nice and cold as it should be. The service manager said the repair has a two year warranty and unlimited mileage. Hopefully I don't have to use it. The dealership i went to was one where I bought my 2014 half ton silverado. In 10 years and 168k miles on the truck anything I needed done and two small recalls they were always very good to me. Not a huge dealer either. I think they treat people well because they want you to come back. I have dealt with a different dealer that was too big to care about an individual. Just my two cents.
    • Hi All, I operate my 2021 3500 SLT most of the time with the tailgate off and in a crate because I have a slide-in camper. However, at least once a year, I take the camper off and put the tailgate back on. Recently I installed the tailgate, but had a hard time getting the connector bail to swing to the fully latched position. The connector seems to fully seat, and everything works, but the bail doesn’t swing to fully latched position.  It swings almost there but stops and I am afraid to push it any harder.    Does anyone have any advice on cleaning or lubrication or anything else I should be doing?  i know how to properly operate the connector. During the time the tailgate and connector are off, i have a double plastic bag over the truck connector secured with rubber bands to keep it clean, but it still had some dust in it this time when I blew it out with compressed air. I didn’t want to spray it with anything other than air without doing some research. Thanks.

    • Hello @jaszr2 Do you have a link for the item? I put a replacement bumper on my truck and consequently had to relocate the shutters. I studied on them a while, and figured if you left a couple key blades, you could get most of the airflow with probably no throwing codes.
