Sorry, but you may have noticed I am a novice on this stuff.  Does the harness you build have one plug on each end, and where do the ends connect.  My body man that switched the mirrors actually got some harnesses from GM, but they did not have plugs on the end.  He didn’t want to tackle that.
How do I make the purchase?

Rest assured, novice or not, that with Phil’s harnesses and by watching his how to videos you’ll be able to accomplish this as I did. I have very little ‘mechanical’ ability and the wiring especially frightens me although I tore into my doors 3X to upgrade my mirrors to exactly what I wanted with Phil’s assistance. You’ll find a great deal of praisegamboa from the members here on various topics, primarily the mirror upgrade.

Hello Phil,

I'm new to this forum. But I wanna start out by saying thanks to all the work and knowledge your providing here.

Looking to purchase DL3 power folding mirrors for a 2015 sierra SLE 2500 w/duramelt.

Currently installed are the dl8 tow mirrors non power folding. So watching your youtube channel and reading this thread I took the door harness off to determine if I'm missing any pins. I noticed we're missing the #9 and #11 pin.

The option I'm looking for to work is the power fold, don't really care for the running lights working right away. at least till I'm ready to tackle installing of the RZY jumper harness.

How do we know if the pin is there for the power fold mirrors. will have to swap out the power folding switch...

Thank You!

RZY harness takes care of pins 9, 11, and 41 at the door jamb. When you say DL3 Mirrors, do you mean Tow Mirrors? If so, power fold tow mirrors are DQS Mirrors, non-power fold are DPN. Just want to make sure of the mirror type you’re looking to upgrade to.

Also, since you’re a 2015 - 2500, can you tell me if you have the AVF RPO in you Glove Box?

Power fold circuits are on pin 4 and 18 on the 18-Pin Mirror Connector. These are usually present and doesn’t require anything extra except for the switch needed to fold/unfold

You need to look at the very first page of this thread and do some reading sir. From there you will need to provide more info about your truck along with current mirrors and the ones you actually want to upgrade too. You should really only need the mirrors of your choice along with a custom PnP harness from@pgamboa

Thansk for reaching out and welcome to the forum. Like@chrispassas21 says, please read the very first post in its entirety.

You’ll need to decide what type of mirrors you want. GM or Aftermarket, Power Fold or Non-Power Fold. These are the two cost differentiating factors.

You’ll need to you Harnesses. I make this Plug and Play, so let me know what direction you want to go once you’ve decided. You can also PM me for more info if you have questions after reading the first post. There is a lot to consume and can be confusing, so PM if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Phil

Thought I would give an update on my continuing upgrade saga.

Story so far... 2017 2500 LTZ Midnight. Came with DL3 mirrors. Dealer agreed to remove and install DQS mirrors. DPN were installed because ADI claims a DQS install cannot be done.

Update:

Heard from the dealer today. Service manager has been working hard to resolve this situation. They have the TSB I sent them which covers 2015 and 2016 models. They had several conversations with ADI and "Partech" about the mirrors. While they now admit the mirrors CAN be ordered, they claim there is no way to install them. While they acknowledge the TSB, they claim it does not apply to "new" vehicles. (Again, if anyone can show me documentation that covers 2017 trucks, it would be greatly appreciated).

I'm tired of arguing this. They claim the mirrors are $700 each (although I see them on many authorized parts sites for around $500 each). I proposed they get me those mirrors in exchange for the DPNs they already installed. They can get me one with a GM credit based on other problems I have had. They are going to the sales dept to see if they will cover the cost of the second mirror.  I don't know how much luck I will have getting them to honor they DQS paperwork they provided. I might consider small claims court if necessary.

I told them I would install the DQS myself. I'm really hoping the process is as easy as people here say it is. Maybe I can get them to not reassemble the door panel when they remove the old mirrors. I would still rather find a dealer willing to do it.

The whole process (along with some other, unrelated issues on my truck) has left such a bad taste. I totally regret this truck purchase and am counting the days until I sell it. Chevy really needs to get their act together. This mirror upgrade should be a simple thing.

If anyone knows of someone in the New York area who can do this install, please contact me. If you can recommend a better after-market mirror, I'm open to that as well. It shouldn't be damn frustrating to do a simple thing.

Edited to add: There's also another factor. What if they are right? I could go through all this and the mirrors will not work! Can anyone confirm they have upgraded to DQS on a 2017 truck?

I had the chrome caps painted the color of the truck. My question and I searched some videos but still not that clear as to getting the bleach ones off. Anyone tried changing the caps on the A1 tow mirrors thanks.

    • It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t mandated outrageous fuel mileage standards. It does very little for the consumer. It adds cost. Back during Covid there was a chip shortage. They gave a rebate for your truck if it didn’t have the chip to turn on cylinder deactivation. It was 50$ because at best you may see 1/2 a mile increase per gallon. Splitting hairs each fuel mileage trick wasn’t mandated. The government doesn’t do the engineering work and say use this until it’s already in use and they like it. The fuel mileage was mandated. And those add ons the results. There’s a mandate and they are the results.
    • It was never mandated.  Ever.    Automakers were incentivized to install it by getting CAFE credits to help with their vehicle fleet fuel economy scores.  They were being handed money/CAFE credits to install it.  Which is NOT a mandate.       The current admin removed the incentives that were behind them installing it.
    • Are you playing Slide Down endlessly but your score is still low? Are you constantly crashing into obstacles as the game speed increases? Don't worry, this article will share 5 invaluable tips to help you master the race and impress your friends. Golden Rules 1. Look one step further. The mistake of 90% of new players is only staring at their character. The secret of experts is to look towards the top of the screen (where the slide is about to appear). This gives your brain an extra 0.5 - 1 second to process the situation and determine the direction of movement before the obstacle approaches. 2. Use gentle movements; don't swipe too hard. Slide Down is very sensitive. Moving your finger too forcefully or with excessive amplitude will cause your character to be thrown off course or crash into a wall. Practise moving your finger with small, decisive, and precise movements. 3. Don't be greedy for gold in dangerous locations. Gold coins are tempting for buying skins, but life is more important. If you see a gold coin right on the edge of a cliff or next to a spike trap, ignore it. Our goal is a High Score, and your score only increases if you survive. 4. Make the most of Power-ups. During the slide, you'll encounter items like Magnets (attract gold) or Shields (temporary invincibility). Never miss them! Especially the Shield, it's your "get out of jail free card" to help you get through those deadly fast sections. 5. Stay calm when speed peaks. When your score exceeds 500 or 1000, the game speed will be very fast. At this point, don't try to think logically; let your natural reflexes work. Take deep breaths and don't panic. Apply these 5 tips to your next game, and your leaderboard will surely improve dramatically. Good luck climbing the Slide Down leaderboard!
    • If you use compressed air regularly, one problem you cannot ignore is moisture. Water in the air line can cause rust, unstable air pressure, poor tool performance, and even damage to sensitive equipment. That is why I highly recommend using a desiccant air dryer. A desiccant air dryer is designed to remove moisture from compressed air by using drying materials such as activated alumina or molecular sieve. Compared with basic water separators, it can achieve much lower dew points, making it especially useful for applications that require dry and stable air. For workshops, painting systems, pneumatic tools, CNC machines, laser cutting equipment, and industrial production lines, a desiccant air dryer can make a big difference. It helps protect equipment, improve air quality, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the service life of the whole compressed air system. Another advantage is reliability. Many desiccant air dryers are built for continuous operation and can maintain stable drying performance even in demanding environments. For users who care about long-term efficiency and equipment protection, this is a smart investment. When choosing a desiccant air dryer, I suggest paying attention to air flow capacity, working pressure, dew point performance, regeneration method, and maintenance requirements. A good model should match your compressor system and actual air consumption. Overall, if moisture is causing problems in your compressed air system, a desiccant air dryer is definitely worth considering. It is practical, efficient, and highly useful for anyone who needs clean, dry, and reliable compressed air.
