10-4. Already have it on order. There's different shades of the brushed aluminum part of the trim. We'll see if it matches.

I just need to see how the switch mounts. I may have to cut that part out and mold it somewhere else. Where did you get it from?

Ordered from the dealer. The silver trim and black vent area come out as a unit.

You can see the opening in the plastic framework for the HUD switch.

Stopped by the dealer today to pick up the HUD switch trim piece I ordered. My Yukon has the "Axiom" color for the silver interior trim pieces (looks to be the same on Tahoes without HUD). I had him order the "Synthesis" color from the Tahoe with HUD. It appeared it would match based on all the photos I looked at. GM doesn't offer the Axiom color with the HUD switch opening. Unfortunately, it is a different shade and enough that it would bother me. I would have to change out the trim on my steering wheel, radio bezel and passenger vent for it to match. I'd rather have the "Burnished" color used in the Denali and swap the other trim parts out. I could then add the same color pieces around the charging pad on the center console and interior door handles that only come on the Denali. Luckily, my parts guy will swap it out for me.

In the meantime, at least you guys can benefit from some pics.

The assembly is made up of four parts. Two vent duct pieces that can come off, the internal frame and the silver trim that is fused to it. The clips for the HUD switch are molded into the silver trim piece.

Parts guy called. He got the Denali piece in. It's color isn't that far off. Also discovered the Denali (burnished) and my original (axiom) piece have real aluminum overlaid on them vs. the painted "synthesis" color the LTZ uses.

Also got the HUD cluster visor in. Looks like the HUD unit attaches to the dash instead of the visor.

All I can say is holy cow. This makes swapping a console or re-wiring tow mirrors look like childs play! I love the HUD in my C6, and had one once in a Gran Prix. Until you have driven with one you do not know how great they are. Especially when driving on strange roads, freeways or in cities you have never been in before.

All I can say is I will continue to follow this and Good Luck!

Did they do away with the windshields having to be certain material for the hud to reflect right?

Once you guys get this complete, will someone write-up a full swap/install instructions with parts needed? :)

I have factory HUD in my suburban and it requires a special windshield if I need to replace it. No idea of price or what is so special, but sure it has a special coating to provide clear reflection without any "double vision" effect.

Have to say, I love the HUD. Wish I had it in my Silverado, so interested in how this project comes along.

Sweet. My switch should be here Friday. I'll verify if the unwired connector I got from Mouser fits. Then I can wire it with the correct color wires. Anybody know where I can find the cloth-type electrical tape GM uses now in their wiring harnesses?

Nice! Glad to know the other end of the USB fits. BTW, it's morning. Where are the installed pics? LOL

Hopefully my cluster will show up today from Chris and I'll have time this weekend to do the install. I'll document everything, although it will be on a Yukon. At least you can verify the wiring. I'll be sending my BCM to him for OEM HID programming later next week.
