Op, thanks so much for posting this, a forum usually cost me money seeing what others do to their truck and then me spending money but this time it saved me lol. Tomorrow I'm ordering the GM front and rear molded mud flaps, all for free. I really debated the bed light kit but I need mud flaps more than I want bed lights.

Yea I have spent a lot from things I learned on forums. The mod in the back of my head now is the driver's side grab handle - learned about it on this forum.

Good choice - mine came with the bed lights after I thought they got left of the order - but more of a wow-gee-whiz thing than practical.... Now the GM tie-downs I like - and can be found on eBay much more reasonable - that's were I got mine even before the truck arrived....

You gotta do the drivers side grab handle. So basic but makes a difference. I did this on my truck and was well worth it. Just takes a bit of time to get used to using that versus grabbing the steering wheel though!

Mine came with the driver side grab handle and I love it, it's the way every truck should come. Love your tie downs, now I'm off to eBay to look around.

It looks just like mine, seems like a good price, bet GM would sell it for a lot more. And thanks for the link. Now back to eBay lol.

See my post #13 above - one peep used it Friday - 5 months after purchase........

:ughdance:

I'm going to try to use this too even though I bought it 7 months ago. I guess we'll see.

Thanks - So the extisting cover just pops off starting at the top - with your fingers - no tools required?

I found it easier to use a flat head screwdriver (or if you have a proper pry tool, that works too) to start it at the top. Once you have enough room to get your fingers in it just pops off. Might take a bit of force but you don't need any other tools. Once it's off, you need to detach the safety clip (this prevents the A pillar trim from smacking you in the face if the air bag goes off). Some guys cut it off, but I just unclipped it and then it essentially clips back onto it self to keep it out of the way. It'll make more sense when you see it. Then you just place the new handle over the two holes and secure it with the bolts.

I'm useless when it comes to this stuff and even I was able to do it, lol.

So how exactly do I use this? Just go into the parts department and show them the email printed?

    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
