Should I get the 6.2 or stick with the 5.3?

Okay guys I need an opinion. I'm looking to get a Silverado or Sierra with the 6.2L Crew Cab loaded out and such. I don't think I can afford a brand new one, there's a 14 Silverado LTZ that has the 6.2L crew cab and everything loaded out at my local dealership. Payment is where I want it to be.

Well, I'm going outta town where the bigger GM dealers are at. I really like the 16-17 front ends are more then the 14-15s. GMC I do like too, but idk.

So, if I can't get a brand new 6.2L where I want my payment at & I can settle for a LT or SLE that has the 5.3 in it. I rather have the 6.2L though. Is it worth the money to get a 6.2L over the 5.3? Has anyone owned both? To see what they say about em?

Do I need the 6.2L? No, I don't. Don't tow much either. But always told myself if I go back to a GM truck, I would get a 6.2L. Should I or shouldn't I? Thanks!!

Ive owned both. I bought a 2014 LTZ with the 5.3 brand new in 2015. I now own a 2014 High Country with the 6.2 that i bought used for a killer deal. I think we are comparable where i dont need the 6.2 or tow much . I would hands down say get the 6.2. The power is awesome especially if you get a custom tune from blackbear and do some minor mods. I personally like the 14-15 better than the 16-17 mods. I wanted a sports car but need a pickup living in WY. So the 6.2 is the best of both worlds in my opinion. Hope this was helpful haha

If money is an issue, you don't need a new truck. You need Dave Ramsey.

Seriously, if money is an issue the 6.2L is not for you. Gas is more expensive and and you will use more of it.

That's a type of response I'm looking for man! I really like it. It's a 14 with 49k miles on it. Fully loaded except no sunroof.

You know yourself better than anybody so If you'll kick yourself too often for not getting a 6.2, you know the answer. I've always been a car guy and had to have the latest and the greatest and the most HP and TQ out there. I had a 7.0 liter (427 C.I.) in a Z06 Vette and after a while, that becomes the norm and doesn't blow your socks off anymore. I don't tow with my '17 SLT so I decided the 5.3 was good and it seriously is. Plus, the 5.3 doesn't require premium gas and I will not be running the 1/4 mile in my truck. It's a truck!! Good luck with your decision.

Picked up my '14 sierra all-terrain 6.2 with 22k miles one year ago for 33k at a dealership, if that gives you any indication where you should be at for pricing.

49k miles, I'd probably rather have a brand new 5.3

That's a lot of miles compared to none at all.

I absolutely love the 6.2, but I'm tuned, it wasn't all that amazing without the tune. I can't really compare the 5.3 because I've only driven it stock, and it was quite slow by comparison. Might be pretty nice with a tune though.

That's why I wanna go to the other different dealers tomorrow & see what I can find. The other dealerships are hour and half away from me. But, I'm gonna try to go.

I use to have a 07 with my BB tune. With the new 5.3s while having a BB tune, how much does it compare to a stock 6.2L?

Well I can't compare it to a stock 6.2 L, but someone on here has a 2017 5.3 tuned and ran the 1/4 mile with the same times as the old 6.0L in previous trucks.

I went from a 2012 chevy silverado crew cab with 5.3 6sp and 3.08 gears to a 2016 gmc denali 6.2 8 speed 3.23 gears and all I can say is wow what a difference in acceleration and when im towing my boat. Night and day difference, so if you can get the 6.2 for a good deal go for it.

you have two options:

1) go for the more fun, more power, more expensive choice

2) get an engine that is more than adequate for what you need, for a better price.

Only you can decide how valuable your money is to you. That's really the only question here.

Stin look at Laura GMC they have brand new 2017 6.2 SLT Crew Cab 4x4 Short Beds for 41800. With the difference in interest rates new to used may make sense buy new.
