2 problems in one day on my 2017 Denali

Bought the truck brand new on feb 1st. Have had no issues with it until today. First the outside temperature display is reading 54 degrees while it is 70 degrees today and it went up to 56 degrees

The other issue is I started to see water drip in front of me and in the steering wheel. I look up and it's leaking on the left side of the visor so did some research and saw the shark fin antennae leaks. I've been through a few major downpours with no problem until a light rain today caused it to leak.

Assuming my only option here is to drop it off at the dealership right?

If your truck is that new, I'd say for sure take it to the dealership to warranty it properly. No reason you should have to try and fix that, especially the leak.

As for the temperature, did you drive around for a bit and it still read incorrectly? I know when I drive out of my parking garage it take a couple minutes for the proper temperature to read outside versus the underground parking. A simple thing you could try is to disconnect the battery for a bit and reconnect it to see if that resets it.

No, you have other options like:

1. Avoid the dealership at all cost and letting it leak and ignoring the thermometer.

2. Post on numerous forums and facebook how the truck sucks

3. Demand GM buy the truck back

4. ETC....

or take it to the dealer and have them repair it.

I would be a bit upset about the roof leak and water dripping down onto electrical systems. That can create pure havoc. Do you think there was enough water penetration into the dash to cause the issue with the temp sensor circuit? I would take it back to them as soon as possible.

Now you know why GM leads JD Powers in "initial quality". The first 30 days were flawless.

These are easy & well known issues. You dealer will have it fixed in a few days. Until then, let them hook you up with a Geo Metro like rent car.

first dealer loaner for me was a '17 Sierra with 200mi on it, second a '17 Acadia SLT 800mi.

No complaints here, and the truck got fixed

These are easy & well known issues. You dealer will have it fixed in a few days. Until then, let them hook you up with a Geo Metro like rent car.

Imagine the neutral drops you could do in a Geo Metro!

Temperature has gone out of wack similar to your truck on me. Eventually it rights itself. Leaks around shark fin antenna is a pretty common issue so dealer should be able to handle this. Call the service department and ask them for a loaner to confirm availability beforehand. They let me use a 2,000 mile Terrain SUV while they worked on truck.

Any chance you went through a car wash. My outside temp display sometimes gets out of whack when i pressure wash my truck. It rights itself with 5 miles of driving.

Take it to the dealer and let them fix it, thats what the warranty is for.

It's just sitting up there waiting to get abused. Never had a leak in the sharkfins on any of my GM trucks or cars, but then again never used a carwash, and always stayed clear of bashing them with a snow broom while clearing the roof.

It's been discussed before. That hole is there for a reason. The water doesn't leak in through that hole, it's the gasket under the antennae that gives.

They were thinking that was a gasket to isolate the antenna from the curved metal painted roof, and not a true seal. The hole is there to allow pressure equalization and vapor venting of the antenna void (both important so you don't end up with rust under there), and that hole and gasket is not the source of leak. If you look at the underside of an antenna, you will see there is a separate seal right around the parts that go through the metal roof.

A smaller seal that is tight around the mounting point creates a better more durable seal on a object like that antenna that is subject to violent turbulence at highway speeds behind other vehicles or in strong head or cross winds.
