Update to my "chevy shake" 6/30/17 (got it back)

2017 CCSB Silverado Z71...vibrations between approximately 70-80mph. Took it in to the dealership at approx. 1130 miles.

Dropped the vehicle off at 1pm 6/26/17. Yesterday, the 27th I received a phone call advising me they had road forced balanced the wheels, and performed an alignment. Stated they were still getting vibrations, and we're going to conduct the picometer test.

6/28/17 - received a call from service dept. advising test indiciated vibrations in steering wheel only now....said they spoke to someone higher up in the GM service dept (or something along those lines) -and were advised to replace the Steering Gear Bushing...?

I asked if that was going to cure "all" the vibration, I.e. What I felt in the pedals and seat etc. they stated that's what the balancing and alignment cured, stated now the vibration was only in the wheel.

Should get it back Friday....I can't say I'm too hopeful, but I'm hoping this cures it....

Be optimisic...at least your dealer is working hard to fix the issue. They could have said "Operating within parameters" asothers have had to go through.

This is true. I am glad they are acknowledging the vibration and ARE working to fix it...just hope, after the fact, they don't give me the "in spec" answer. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic!

Yeah, i think you are letting all the horror stories on this site about vibration issues get you. Based on what I have seen and read, your dealer seems to be more thorough in their approach. Many dealers seem to only do a road force balance then call it quits. If it doesn't work out Friday, ask your dealer what the next step is because it did drive right the first 1300 miles.

I will give you a glimmer of hope, my 17 Z71 had the shakes very bad at 70-80 which I couldn't test drive at that speed to find out before hand. They ask me to wait till I had 500 miles on it and let them road force balance them and I'm happy to report I'm shake free. Good luck to you.

Will be watching this thread. I'm at 31k miles and all of a sudden getting the shake at around 75 to 80mph. I can watch thr center console shake back n forth plus I feel it in the seat. I was driving with my grandma and she said " my butt is shaking!" Lmao

Most of the shaking is present when it is new. If you have had 31k shake free miles, I'd suspect the tires to be out of balance or worn.

Just your steering wheel shaking? This reminded me of the Tim Conway skit where he is experiencing severe turbulence in the economy section of the plane but the seats in front of him are not! I agree with other comments that it sounds like you have a good service department working on your truck and hopefully you will soon have a smooth running truck!

They've done the exact same things on mine. Steering gear helped some but made it worse in the wheel. They still have Pico readings they can't fix. Currently in a lemon law against GM. Hope they can fix yours. Mine is a 16 that started pretty much from day 1. My 14 and 15 were great but this 16 has assured these issues are real and do exist.

Yeah, maybe I'm just being too pessimistic, but I just -can't- imagine the wheels/alignment causing the vibration in the seat/pedals, and this bushing causing the same amount of vibration only in the steering wheel, causing the whole ride to shake....Again, I hope I'm wrong but...I have a feeling when I pick it up, it will be going right back.

Such a bad feeling. First NEW vehicle I've been able to afford in my short life...thought it was going to be an enjoyable experience! But enough with the pity, just want my truck back, fixed, and right....owell. I won't give up yet!

Just got a call.....stated they "fixed" the vibrations.....

HOWEVER, "it still vibrates, but very little, almost not noticeable, but it's fine to drive."

Well, guess we'll see when I pick it up in a few hours.....

Ok, approx 15 mile uninterrupted highway drive (minus being stopped by a trooper) cruising between 75-80mph.

Definite improvement in vibration. Don't feel it much in the seat or pedals, water in water bottle doesn't look like it's boiling anymore, just normal rippling from driving....however, there does seem to be some vibration in the steering wheel, as they stated. Haven't decided if I can live with it or not. Will probably drive it for a week and see if maybe I'm just -looking- for an issue. The loaner was smoother (in the steering Atleast) but idk if the 20" wheels and tires had anything to do with it.

Overall, at the moment I am happy. I'll decide it I press the issue in a week. Im just happy to have MY truck back, so I want to eliminate my excitement as a possible reason of just wanting to hold on to it.
