Manual Brake Light Switch

Why do you even worry about tailgaters?

I get tailgated by impatient drivers daily, I don't even pay them any attention. If a contractor does it, I call their company and let the company know what kind of liability they have working for them.

Where do you live that tailgating is so bad it bothers you enough to rig the tail lights?

Here in Boston (worst drivers in the country) I have occasional assholes on my tail but nothing that is constant or bothers me enough to F with my vehicle. I wouldn't waste time and energy dealing with the assholes.. just saying

I actually like the momentary brake light idea.

But my favorite way to deal with tailgaters is to slow down. If you drop to 5 or 10 under the speed limit they'll either get around you, or lose their mind. Or both. And it's quite effective.

I had an asshat tailgating me on a 55 mph road where I was going about 59. I slowed down to about 40 mph before he got the hint. I think I actually saw the steam coming out of his ears!

Chicago traffic driver here, deal with tailgaters on a daily basis on 88 and 294. Heard too many stories about road rage escalating for the worse. I just get out of the way.

My approach to tailgaters used to be brakecheck the shit out of them but two kids later I'd rather not piss off the wrong crazy...

Not to get all high and mighty just some food for thought.

Use your windshield washer. That usually backs off anyone.

Good point. Also, in most states, you are required to yield to the right when someone comes up behind, and allow them to pass.
