From the manual....

Before Driving Off-Road

Remove any underbody air
deflector, if equipped. Re-attach
the air deflector after off-road
driving.
To gain more ground clearance if
needed, it may be necessary to
remove the front fascia lower air
dam. However, driving without the
air dam reduces fuel economy.
Caution
Operating the vehicle for
extended periods without the front
fascia lower air dam installed can
cause improper airflow to the
engine. Reattach the front fascia
air dam after off-road driving.

Tons of members here have taken air dams off with no change in temperatures. Took the one off my 2011 the first week I had it. Not an issue in 4 years and 75k miles.

Mine is on. But my truck is a grocery getter and found mostly at malls [emoji12]. I actually have some scrapes on mine, will probably remove it, and see how it looks.

I always thought it was the modern equivalent of curb feelers . . .

This is funny, I wonder why you don't see curb feelers anymore. I remember thinking about getting them for my mother but thankfully she gave up driving before I had to get her these grownup training wheels.

im guessing the mpg loss taking it off is even less than 1mpg if your truck is already leveled/lifted... my opinion... no proof behind it..

my truck is leveled... and i think im going to take mine off
