Valence

What is the real purpose of the valence under the bumper?

Is it just for looks, or does it aid in directing air for the aerodynamics of the truck?

I never noticed any loss in mpg. Looks way better and gives more clearance

That is the key word, there was some just not enough on a city hwy split for you to notice.

I did a test with and with out min OPe, back to back over a 40ish mile loop all highway and it came out to 1.3 mpg. You won't notice and won't make much of a difference except on the highway. I trimmed mine to half the loss on the hwy that I would lose. Looks better is debatable, effectiveness lost is not in what it was designed for. Highly doubt most who take it off would really benefit from it being off, it is all an aesthetic macho reason than for the reason many give.

I took mine off and felt it looked a lot cleaner and gave it a bit more ground clearance. Didn't notice any different in MPG, but I'm sure it did negatively effect it slightly.

Is it hard to remove/different to remove on the Chevy's? It doesn't look different on 2016+ but the previous threads mad kind of a big deal about it.

From the manual....

Before Driving Off-Road

Remove any underbody air
deflector, if equipped. Re-attach
the air deflector after off-road
driving.
To gain more ground clearance if
needed, it may be necessary to
remove the front fascia lower air
dam. However, driving without the
air dam reduces fuel economy.
Caution
Operating the vehicle for
extended periods without the front
fascia lower air dam installed can
cause improper airflow to the
engine. Reattach the front fascia
air dam after off-road driving.

My truck is at stock height and have not had a problem with the valence hitting or rubbing. I suggest leaving it on as long as it doesn't get in the way and it saves wasting a little fuel.

got mine off as well... gives it about 3-4 more inches of clearance.. imo

I took mine off because even at creeping speeds it would drag through large potholes in parking lots or mudholes in gravel roads. It definatly has more of a truck look with little gas mileage loss. I kept it but not sure why. fba46735f2265a4eb9f56960e7308916.jpg
