Squeaky front suspension especially when cold

I'm getting some nasty squeaking coming from the front left side of my 2014 Chevy Silverado. It only seems to happen when it's colder (less than 50 degrees). It sounds like it's coming from a bushing or mount, but I'm not ruling out a shock. Has anyone else had experience with this type of thing? I bought the truck used with 43k miles on it. I think it might have been owned by a farmer previously and probably saw mostly rough gravel roads.

Yep, sounds like my Sierra, been doing it since 8k.....currently 29k

Well it's reassuring to know that it's not due to my truck being beat up or treated poorly by the previous owner. If yours made that sound since it had 8k miles I'm definitely not as concerned about it. Do you happen to know what's causing it?

I'm going with Control Arm Bushings. I have other minor issues with the truck, that when put together, is leading me to replace it next year....it's a lease. I was planning on buying it out, but everytime I run into these little things, I'm thinking of just getting another one.....really miss my "06 Silverado....until it fell apart at 90k.

How in the heck did it fall apart at 90k miles? My buddy has a 2004 with 290k miles on it.

Within a couple of months.......it started with the Front Diff....then the Rear Diff....the the Transfer Case, but what pushed it over the edge was the R/F Wheel Bearing went, was so bad that when the dealer reported the damages and cost.....Wheel Bearing, Axle Seal, Rotors = somewhere in the $1,200 range....Wife turned to me and said go out in the lot and pick out a new truck. This is also the reason we lease, a lot easier to budget the monthly payment, rather than the surprise of dropping over $3,000 in a short period, and if any breakdown, call them to pick up the truck and send a loaner. I liked my 2013 also, but had issues with an engine knock early on....long story short, had to replace the #8 Piston, then knock returned about 7k later. My 2015....well, the Headlights are horrible, the truck handles like poop, any deviation in the road surface takes over the truck....I gotta believe this is a tire thing, as it is also not as good in the bad weather as my past trucks....I don't care for the trans and throttle response, sometimes she's got giddy up, sometimes she bogs a bit....a new set of tires and a tune are on the list if this thing holds together and we buy it out. Overall, love the truck....so far

I've noticed this same thing with mine (2014 chevy silverado LT). Anything but a perfectly smooth road at low speed (0-45) makes the ride feel very firm and the handling feel unstable. However, the only of trucks I have to compare to is a 2004 Nissan Titan and a 2008 Toyota Tacoma which both handled considerably better. However, I realize that the newer silverados have much higher towing capacities than the Titans and Tacomas so I've just chalked it up to the suspension being more beefy to handle bigger loads. My dad's 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax rides similar to mine, very stiff, but it seems to be a bit more stable than mine. His has Toyo AT tires and mine has Goodyear Fuel Max tires so maybe that's the difference.

My handling issues are more like any groove in the road will catch the truck and take it wherever the groove leads it until I yank it back....forget wet roads, even a slight rain can be slippery as everybody passes me on the left at 10 mph faster. I'm running Continental Contacts P275/55 r20

Ok I finally figured out what was causing this. I took it into the dealership and they found out it was the sway/stabilizer bar body bushings. The youtube video included illustrates exactly what was happening (this video is of a Jeep, but it's the same concept). The dealership replaced the sway bar body bushings and the squeaking is gone! The repair cost me $100 to have the dealership do it, but it seems easy enough to do on your own. Hope this helps someone out there with the same issue
