Brand new here and brand new to Silverado (owner for one day). Bought my Silverado High Country at the worst dealership in the country, and was given zero orientation of the vehicle or how things work. Most of it I can figure out easy enough or by RTFM, but the truck has the High Desert Package which includes nice storage bins on either side of the bed. But I can't figure out how to lock them. I've tried pressing the button, locking the truck completely, and even driving to see if drive-away-locking would do it. Nothing works. The storage bins are of little use if they can't be secured. HELP. I'm sure I'll feel stupid once someone explains how easy it is.

put the ignition key in and lock em?

No keyhole. Just a soft-ish button that unlocks them on the rare occasion that they lock, but doesn't lock them. Seems inconsistent at best, and I can find zero instructions online and the dealer barely has enough brain cells to keep his heart beating.

If they're not locking with the key fob there is a problem with the wiring ill bet

More testing with it last night. Very frustrating. The dealership was literally a group of retarded monkeys. Love the truck, and love my Camaro ZL1, but losing my affection for Chevy.

I live in what’s considered a medium/small town.  MSA just over 100k.   Within 30 mile radius, I can count six Chevy/GMC/Cadillac dealerships.  I’m probably missing one or two.

Do you not have another dealer to take it to?

My preferred dealer is just two miles away - but they didn't have the truck I wanted, so I had to drive an hour to the store where the cavemen work. I do plan to use the home dealership for service and warranty work, but I'd feel like a jerk taking them my 2 day old truck that I bought elsewhere and asking them to teach me how to use it. But I won't go back to the other dealer - they were the worst experience I've ever had.

Maybe it's in lock settings, I dunno. Again - no instructions or orientation was provided and the manual does not acknowledge the existence of the High Desert Package. So there is literally no help to be found. Was hopeful that someone here has the package and could clue me in... doesn't look that way.

Which, I suppose, makes us cavemen too.

Not sure what you mean, but my use of the word cavemen was derogatory and implied that they have no intelligence or skill. You are certainly welcome to speak for yourself, but I do not count myself in that category.

I didn't receive a special "owners manual" for the High Desert package.  All I know is that when the doors are locked the lids and the tailgate is locked.........

Thanks for that reply. That would be what I'd expect but it does not function that way. I guess it's another warranty issue.

A dealer can make as much or more on repairs and service on your ride as selling it to you. Drop in and explain your concern. I’ve been taking my wife’s Acura to a local dealer for 17 years. Been trying to buy a car from them, their sale department sucks. The service department is first class. While I wait for service a sales person usually visit with me and I explain to the why I don’t buy from them but get service from them, so far their just as arrogant.
