I have owned many "Brand New" this is my first from Mexico build....Not kidding....Nothing is misaligned, poor or sub-par!  I am still amazed to this day the fit-finish of it almost perfect!

No build quality issues with my Silao built crew cab.  Now the torque converter and AFM lifters on the L86 6.2 are another matter entirely.

Why would there be a difference? They have the same Quality Control. It doesn't matter who is building it, in the end it has to meet the same standards. Any manufacturer isn't going to let a production plant build a subpar product just because the labours cheaper, in the end they'd be losing money in warranty claims.

I laughed at this more than I should have, I'm in the same boat (well only for about 17 years)... mostly adopted from my dad.  Actually the only bad experience I had was with a 2002 Ford Explorer's horrible transmission problems.  Once I found out they kept using this poorly designed tranny in vehicles and refused to do anything about it, I said I would never buy a Ford again.  So, GM it is.

 

Anywho, I have a Mexican build and I have no issues with it, the materials and process is going to be the same anywhere.  There is something to be said about QC overall, but each plant may not solve a problem on the line in the same way.  That could be a difference, but in the end I would think they are all going to have people there to make sure the solutions adhere to GM standards.

I have actually visited Mexico extensively and have never noticed any GM's being assembled in the "real" areas or the "tourist" areas...

 

Have you visited Detroit lately? I mean the real Detroit...

Back when I had my '96 Impala SS, I saw a video of the Arlington TX plant where the car was assembled.  A lot of people standing around, joking, and grab-assing, and some of them actually acted offended when they had to quit clowning to work on a car coming down the line.  Given all the problems that American-built car had, that explained a lot to me.  

 

I would not hesitate for a second to buy another Silao-built vehicle.  

What problems, other than the Opti-Spark?  The 91-96 Caprice/94-96 Impala SS, Buick Roadmaster, Cadillac Fleetwood, & Olds Custom Cruiser proved to be a very reliable platform.

I like the fact that mine is US made.  Not because I think the foreign made ones are inferior, but because the Americans who assembled mine had jobs which helps the American economy.

I can say without question the paint quality on my '18 Flint built Sierra is far superior to the '17 I traded.

you could look sideways at the '17 and paint would flake off................

I can't say that Mexico had anything to do with the crap torque converter behind the 6.2.

 

Wasn't so sure i would love the DuraMax as much as I liked the 6.2, but this diesel sure does run

Mine was built in Canada and the only differences I noticed is by law in Canada you cannot be able to shut off headlights starting at a certain year, my 06 you cant put the headlights in the off position, and no hitting any buttons a million times doesn't work either. I also have a block heater on a half ton.

 

But as far as quality goes GM has a quality standard spread internationally. Doesn't matter where its built the same work instruction times standards everything are upheld in every company.
