IF your 2017 2500HD is a flex fuel, then it would not be a problem to run E85 and once it is tuned for it, performance can be higher.  Factory tuning is not designed to make more power on E85 than gasoline.

Eh.... I really don't care what Justin has to say about it when there are dyno sheets proving otherwise.  Hard proof trumps personal opinion but believe whatever it is you want too. Doesn't mean others need to do the same.

You have a dyno sheet from a company trying to sell you a programmer.  That doesn't prove a whole lot to me.

I have no qualms with you believing whatever you want to believe.  Simple as that.

Mine is pure stock.   I have used E85 exclusively for about a year.  The price spread is just too good to pass it up.  All miles.... town, highway, hauling, gravel roads, off road on property, everything.... it averages about 11 mpg.  Not sure if it is putting out more power and really haven't cared. It is putting out at least as much since there has been no change in performance.   It runs great and very smooth on the stuff.

Just towed to the same campground running e85. 1st time no tune seemed to do better in the mountains than the 2nd time with the tune. Thinking about a blower or just trade to diesel. Camper is 10klbs.

Like I stated, i have been using E85 exclusively for about a year.  I am on a trip to Wyoming right now.  Decided to do an E85 only trip just to see how it would do at altitude.  It seems to get a slightly better MPG at higher altitudes, not earth shaking but noticeable,  Could be due to the higher oxygen content of the ethanol. Not towing on this trip, just hauling.  It has averaged about 13.4 for all miles... highway, dirt roads, towns, etc.  The cost spread is such that even with the lower MPG, it is roughly the equivalent fuel cost per mile as diesel offers if a diesel was getting 19-21 MPG.

About the same on average.  Most of my E85 fillups average out to about $1.91 a gallon.  Locations vary but the cost spread between E85 and Diesel has been around $1.10 - $1.20 a gallon.

From someone who has never used E85, no issues flip flopping between E85 and regular? Also should you try to empty tank as much as possible before switching or it doesn't matter?

Doesn't matter. Truck has a sensor that tells it how much ethanol is in the fuel and adjusts the fuel mapping accordingly.

No alcohol sensor on a stock 6.0.

Nope... stupid virtual sensor which is about as good as the average drivers guess.  To clarify that means it just uses the oxygen sensor feedback to an algorithm to get an estimate and go from there as opposed to an actual alcohol sensor.  They started this nonsense with the GMT900 trucks and although the E85 equipped trucks of today now have a sensor again the HD doesn't.

Since there are some members here with decent knowledge about running E85,  I've got a question.  When towing a trailer of about 5500 lbs total weight, power-wise, would I be better off running E85, or better with 91 octane unleaded ?  My truck still has a stock tuning.
