I have 2 2016s and i would never look back

Wife wanted a 2019. i told her they look like crap. She went and ordered one anyway.  We went to pick it up and see it in person last week.  She said no thanks and i just smiled and said told you so and we left

I didn't know you could order one and then walk away.  Neat.

You dont have to buy it. What do you think dealerships do when they want a special built vehicle. They designs it wait the few months and it comes in.  All you do is tell the dealership what youre looking for and theyll get one.

No deposit.  I guess it helps weve bought 8 vehicles from them in the past few years

Nope. Enjoying my 18.
If I do buy next gen it will be during mid cycle or end of cycle. Aka the 2016+ trucks of this K2xx  generation that had a few more features and some of the bugs worked out (headlights).

And the power numbers are the same for 2019+. Interested in the 3.0 inline duramax power numbers but unless mpg is 28+ Would prob buy another 6.2 since it pulls down good highway mpgs for a truck.

I feel the same way. I bought an 18 about 3 months ago and I’ll wait till end of cycle of the T1 gen to see if its time to trade this in depending on what kind of mid cycle refresh they get. I do like some of the new features of the T1 gen that we should of had with the K2.

I would like:

adaptive cruise (still not avail on T1xx).

Blind spot monitor system, the 2009+ GMT900 SUVS had this.

Push button start

HUD

rear cup holders on back of center console.

Entire rear window rolls down like tundra.

E-coated painted frame. Midsized Colorado and canyon have this. Why not full-size?

I had a look at the 19 Denali. Not impressed at all. I will wait a few years for sure.
Never buy on the first year of release. My 16 works great

Never did understand first year of release buyers. Just looking for trouble. Of course, if no one bought them GM wouldn't know what to fix.

I will see hear soon. My friend is ordering a 2019 loaded AT4. We car pool for work so he drives a week and then I do. I will be interested to see how it is compared to my 15. One good thing I can ride in it every other week and don't have to pay for it..LOL.

I've had my 2018 for 4 months.  No regrets at all.  This is my first pickup and it's one that I had my eye on for a while.

The dealership hadn't received any of the 2019's when I took delivery of mine and even if they had, it wouldn't have made a difference.  Just not a fan of the look of the T1's.

Purchased a used LT2 CC 2017 a few month ago. Once I saw the 2019’s in person that sealed the deal. No fan of the new body style. Love my 17’!

Biggest regret was buying the 16’ Colorado I traded in.

Picked up a 2018 a month ago and just joined. Coming off 15 years in a 2500HD Duramax. We had the "hop" in those trucks when unloaded and it rode like a genuine truck. That stated, I like the way my 18 rides and the "quietness" is welcomed. I'm not a huge fan on today's looks (still like my 03). Only have 1500 miles on the clock but no regrets yet. Time will time.

Have had my '18 LTZ crew cab for about two months now, almost 5K miles on it already.    No quality issues, no transmission issues, no funny noises, no shimmy, no shakes, and no rattles.    So far, it appears to be a high quality machine, and I have no regrets.

Sticker on mine was $48,800 and I got 16% off MSRP.    I got 40K for my 2014 Corvette trade, so there was almost no tax on the deal.

There are some fabulous deals out there on leftover 2018 trucks IF you can find the one you want.   I got exactly what I wanted 2 months ago, white, crew cab, 5.3L, 6 speed auto, 4x4, no Z71 package, bed liner,  highway tires, and dealer threw in GM side steps + installation.   Even then - the pickings around here were getting slim,  and I live in a  truck-heavy agricultural area.   I say, if you see a 2018 that matches your wish list - get it NOW.

The 2019's are nice, but the deals on them are NOT.

I just bought a 2018 All terrain and I'm pretty much regretting it. Couple of things would go in to me trading it... The trans might be the worst that I've ever been in (and I've had 2 dmax's with built trans that shifted hard). I've had it to the dealer 3 times for it and the said "its all within spec," then I had some driveline vibration (dealer couldn't feel it), and my steering wheel is off center (this pisses me off the most). Also a crackling noise (not loud) coming from the driver window at 50-55 mph. To add to the mix, I just got a job where I have to drive about 35 minutes one way. What I was wanting to do was get a vw passat (or something along those lines) and either an older cummins or a high mileage truck to keep parked. I just hate that I spent all of this money and will either lose my ass on a trade in, or have to spend over 1000 getting things fixed (tuning of TCM and ECM).  If this were a used truck, I probably wouldn't think twice, but new... I don't know

    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
    • Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Years later, your thread is still helping Silverado owners.   I bought my 2025 Silverado 1500 in January 2025, and I've had what feels like the exact same rattle since day one. After reading your findings, I believe my truck has the same issue with the cable carrier contacting the rear sliding window. To be honest, I had pretty much given up on pursuing the issue. It wasn't until I recently drove another brand's pickup that I realized just how quiet their cabin was—and how noisy mine has been all along. On my truck, the rattle happens on almost any paved road, gets even worse on rougher pavement, and I can even hear it during braking and acceleration.   I actually referenced your thread when submitting my case to GM, hoping they'll recognize this as a recurring issue instead of treating it as an isolated incident. The reason I reached out to GM first is because my dealership told me they would need to keep the truck for at least two days just to diagnose the problem. I was concerned that even after two days, they still might not be able to identify the source of the rattle before giving the truck back to me. I had also asked a few dealerships about this issue during previous service visits, but none of them seemed to know what was causing it or had a solution. That's why I decided to contact GM directly first, hoping they might already have an official repair procedure or guidance for this issue.   I also hope GM eventually comes up with an official fix for this problem. I have a feeling there are many Silverado owners experiencing the same rattle, but most either choose to live with it or simply don't know what the cause is.   Really appreciate you taking the time to document your diagnosis. Your post is still making a difference years later.
