Anyone bought new GM extended 2 year warranty?

Looking for feedback on the new GM extended warranty which is an extension of the factory warranty? Not GMEPP or GMPP or whatever-the-hell they're called. This one is new in the last few months.

So it's the exact same as the previous extended warranty, now you just cant claim any of your money back if you don't use it or decide against it?

I had 36 month 100,000km(60k miles) B2B warranty on my 2010, then up to a 60 month 160,000km (100,000 miles) for powertrain, included. The K2's had roughly half that. Which was the very reason I bought the 2010, because of the excellent warranty. Does this mean GM is losing confidence in their products, or making less reliable ones that they don't want to pay to fix?

IMO

GM upped the warranties to help sales.

Sales improved, warranties decreased.

I purchased GM's Platinum Protection Plan 48 months/100K miles with $0 deductible. It pretty much covers everything but wear items. Since my plan is through GM and Not a third party plan, I am not sure what the advantage and cost is of this so called New plan!

Again I still haven't bought my truck yet(very close) but my credit union has a warranty that they offer sounds AWESOME! It is a 8 year 125K mile warranty for around $1500-$2000. No deductible, you can take it to any place you want to to have work done and I think they also offer a rental.

Will have to check this out with dealer was told today my 18 Serria Crew cab is on rail car for delivery. Will have to compare GMEPP to this new plan. In the past I bought gmpp or gmepp and when sold or traded in got balance back. Matter of fact I called them the other day to get balance on my current plan being I will be trading in shortly. Any info if GMS pricing can be used when buying this new plan ?

I have a platinum gmpp 0 deduct and sorry to say it doesn't cover everything and is not the same as the factory warranty. Your extended like mine will only cover mechanical item failure, so don't take it in for rattles or a tear in your leather seat or any non mechanical part because those items which are covered under the 3 year 36 won't be under your platinum gmpp. Maybe the new plan will now cover those items.

My warranty does also cover Electrical and Enhanced Electrical Items.

I"m picking up a '19 Silverado later this week and the selling dealer said they "don't participate in that plan". My guess it would cut into their third party crap warranty business. Kinda sucks because it can only be purchased at the time of sale.

The warranty that GM is now offering at the time of purchase only offers a single months/mileage option and is non refundable if you trade/sell your car. In my opinion you're better off with a GMEPP (GM Extended Protection Plan) as it offers some additional coverage that the factory warranty doesn't (ie; shocks are covered) and is refundable on a pro-rated basis if you trade or sell the car. Just don't confuse it with the old GMPP plan which is now marketed as Ally Major Gaurd, that one is now a 3rd party plan and not affiliated with GM. GMEPP plans can be purchased at many but not all GM dealers and there are a couple of places offering them online at discounted prices. I purchased one for my wifes car from knappvehicleservicecontracts.com and got a great deal as well as an education on GM warranties!
