How to permanently turn off auto shutoff?

It was odd at first in my wife's Malibu but,  it doesn't bother me now.... I'd not risk voiding my warranty by adding an aftermarket device just to disable the start stop... W/ that said, I think the feature is silly especially on a fullsize truck... It's a fullsize truck, it's not supposed to get supreme fuel mileage, you can thank our bumbling government and CAFE standards for being the driver behind the change..

I have to make approx 20 stops a day ...My 6.2 shutters each time it restarts, very annoying.

I checked out the install instructions. No way I would tear my dash apart to put that in. I'm still not used to pressing the button to disable, but I'm getting better at it.

Yeah, seems to be a lot of work, and not easily reversible if there is an issue or you need to take it in to the dealer for something.

If you're annoyed by the feel of the start/stop feature then you may need warranty work.  This is a feature that will help you enjoy all the benefits of truck ownership and maintain reasonable fuel economy.  I am in total disagreement by  comments like, "It's a fullsize truck, it's not supposed to get supreme fuel mileage".   In the words of Alfred E. Newman, "Why not?"   Where I live, the most popular/common mode of transportation appears to be the four door pickup.  I am sure this wouldn't be the case if they drank fuel like their predecessors.

The point of this product is to give you the choice of having the start stop feature when you want it instead of being forced to use it and manually override it. Research has shown the start stop feature can increase your mileage up to 3 to 5% depending on your driving habits. What I have not seen is how much extra wear it adds on the engine, electrical and transmission. When you think about the engine having to build oil pressure from 0 psi every time it starts along with the electrical draw and the transmission having to pump from 0 how does that effect overall longevity of these components?

 

Personally I would like to have the option for it to stay on or off which is what this product provides.

I agree. I’m amazed people hate this feature to the point spending 100 bucks on this, and then taking their interior half apart to install it.

 

The disable button is 6” from the ignition switch and easy enough to remember for me, after having the truck a few months. Pretty sure I could turn auto stop off manually 50,000 times in the 1 hour + it takes to install this thing.

You're missing the point. ICE engines were not designed to work like this. It's not a golf cart. The constant stalling and restarting of the engine causes unnecessary wear on the drivetrain, not to mention its a huge safety issue. There have been several instances when I was trying to cross a busy street and almost got hit because the instant power was not available that would have been had the truck not stalled itself. This "feature" is simply an example of people who do not design cars (politicians) being allowed to impose baseless mandates for purely political reasons.

My hybrid F150 would stop and start multiple times just driving.... My Ram also had stop/start as well most vehicles built now. You might want a little more patience at "busy intersections" if a slight hesitation puts you and the oncoming vehicles in a dangerous situation you probably shouldn't be pulling out.

I installed my eliminator yesterday since we had a warm day (albeit windy) in the Detroit MI area. Install was easy; took about 45 minutes. What a great feeling knowing I never have to monkey with that damn switch again!
