Oh geesh ... I was thinking this was an update requiring a J-2534 & a subscription to GM's service site - so now these shitboxes get updates through WiFi & the infotainment system??

Good thing they did, if they would have used Apple- it would never had made it out of the factory.

Been using the same iMac for over 3 years here. First time since 2001 that I've had a computer this long with so little trouble. My old PC's used to screw up CONSTANTLY. I spent more time exorcising viruses & root kits, and trying to troubleshoot other bugs, like printers disappearing (real great when you need to ship a sold item immediately from eBay), and my internet connection being lost. Same thing with every damn one.  My last operating system was XP, and everyone says that was the last good system they put out! Good grief - I can't even imagine things getting any worse ...

 

I probably lost a thousand hours of time I could have been making money trying to troubleshoot those pieces of garbage.

 

I wouldn't take another Microsoft product if it were given to me ... much the same way as I feel about General Motors products these days.

It also didn't stall - it was turned off to keep from melting the ice. The turning it off was not caused by the update but was updated when it was turned off. Not sure what this is such a difficult concept.

Uh you think it's a good idea to have an update installing while people are driving around?  You ever seen the warnings when you update a phone/TV/Computer?  

 

I definitely prefer it to having to take my ram to the dealer and being down for a couple of hours to a day. 

 

 

As far as being towed off the ice, I haven't seen a single video showing that.  Iv heard rumors but the only video shows it driving off.  My first thought when this popped up was... Some idiot accepted an update.

I prefer to own a vehicle that needs NO updates, has NO computers or electronics of any kind, although late 80's / early 90's FI was the most reliable fuel injection EVER produced. I have 2 vehicles from that era that can attest to that. One of them is nudging 260, 000 miles, is 32 years old, and is still on the ORIGINAL, OE fuel pump.

Lol yeah, I still have my iMac from 2005 and it runs perfect. Maybe GM should contract Apple to build their software so it actually works and isn't full of ghosts.
