engine stop start

I can tell you this took a E assist Silverado home for the weekend drove it back Monday told them
I don’t care if it’s free ain’t dealing with start/stop Or sitting next to a 24 cell battery lol. My wife has it in her car it has the disable button that button is nearly worn down already lol.

The DFM delete is in testing.  Should be a couple of weeks.  You can order the stop/start now.

I don't mind the engine stop. If the AC is off, it will stay off indefinitely, but with the AC on, it's less than a minute as someone above mentioned. Unfortunately in Florida, we run AC all year long except for the two weeks of winter.

I pull out of my office on to a busy 4 lane road then sit in three long stop lights probably 2 to 3 minutes each before I can get on the highway. So far I love the Autostop because I am cheap and love that I just sat there for 6 minutes not burning gas.

In a few weeks driving in one I have already gotten used to slowly easing my foot off the brake before I have to make a quick turn or when I see the stop light turn yellow so the engine kicks back on before I need it so it's ready to go.

I also saw my neighbor walking his dog and stopped to talk. It was great the truck shut off the 2 minutes I sitting there.

As long as there is a button to turn it off I'm glad it's on there.

How long would the starter last if you drove in stop and go traffic everyday?

I turned my AC on "lo" (The lowest temperature setting) and the DFM never engaged to shut the truck off. Anyone else try this yet?

I know we all feel trucks are getting worse and worse yada yada, but please give the engineers some credit for thinking through that very same question and beefing up the starter + battery appropriately. That is literally the easiest problem to solve in the whole start/stop feature.

I'd probably be on the same page if it could only stop and start when I was going to be sitting for that long. But there's no way for it to know if it's going to be a long-winded light where I'm sitting for 90 seconds, or a stop sign where I'm sitting for 3 seconds. Not that I've done a detailed study, but in the few times I've left it enabled, I bet I've averaged about 10 seconds or less of idle saved per stop/start cycle, which just doesn't seem anywhere close to worth it for me.

This is the conclusion I've come to as well.

One thing my wife's Subaru does is the Autostop does not trigger if you are stopped with your turn signal on. That way if you are turning across oncoming traffic the engine doesn't have to restart. Kind of wish gm did that.

I did notice there is a bulletin from GM #PIP5620 - No Crank After An Auto Stop Event.....

Anyone experience this?
