Got the fox 2.0 kit installed yesterday and put on some 275/70/18 terra grapplers on. Love the way it looks and the ride is outstanding. Huge improvement over stock.

So I got the Rough Country 2 inch leveling kit that goes over the strut. Installation was a ******, took about 9 hours with the help of a mechanic. Mind you we also aligned it and swapped out sensors for new aftermarket rims as well. With that said it only raised the front of my 2021 2wd Custom 1.5". Was truly hoping for a true 2 inch raise. I was able to get 22 inch rims with 33/12.5/22r tires on it. It only rubs on the passenger side on full right turn. ill try to get pictures ASAP. after reading the last 36 pages and me not really going off roading with my 2WD, i wish i would have gone with the simple 2 inch under the strut leveling kit from ready lift. Gotten the same look i assume and would have had it done in less than an hour. 

 

When i called Rough Country about which part (over or under mount) to buy for the leveling kit, they advised I can use either one, but that the under strut kit was less sturdy and would wear down other suspension components much faster than going with the top mounted spacer. They strongly recommended i get the top mounted part. I have 15K miles on my truck so i figured let me go with the "better" kit to last longer....I got buyers remorse now. But on the other had I love my 22" rims on 33" tires combo. 😀

Im not exactly sure why it took ( hours install time? 

 I just installed a motofab 2" on top of strut level kit on my 2021 RST and took 1.5 hours tops. went well and easy. 

 But I must say it did lift full 2"s and now I must get a 1" block in rear to level as the front is now higher than the rear.

The instructions were not that great with the cutting of the studs, it just did not go smooth. I felt more like a mod job than a plug and play part. Just my opinion. I expected a 2-3 hour job and i ended up spending all day on it.

Reading through this massive thread and something I keep seeing that I think needs clarified is tires are NOMINALLY sized, meaning not all 33x12.5’s or 295/60/20 or X/Y/Z tire is the same. 
 

You have to look at the specific dimensions for each manufacturer & brand of tire. For instance some nominally sized 33’s may have actual dimensions of 32.5 or less. Others may be slightly > 33. 
 

Depending how tight your clearance is (or isn’t) you may end up with rub issues over these minor differences.

Got my dealership to install a 2" ReadyLift leveling kit. They originally added a 2" rear block as well (first picture) which I then had removed to get rid of the rake. (second picture) Distance from ground to fender is within 1/8" front to rear as it sits currently.

Did you manage to take your before and after measurements on this? I've heard it doesn't actually provide the full 2" of lift.

I forgot to take before measurements, but it's currently at 39 3/4 from the ground to the fender. Tires are a touch bigger than stock as well (275/60R20 vs 265/60R20) I agree that it doesn't raise it a full 2", but it sits level with the back now so that's ok with me.

is 2.5" motofab level to much for the upper control arms or still within the safe limit? currently my front end with the 3.0 duramax is 36.5" and rear is 38.5". what does the factory rear block measure out at.. id like to lift the rear an 1" above stock.

Going to revive an old thread. Lots of good information here.

 

I just picked up a 2022 RST Crew Z71 with the standard bed and the 6.2 on Saturday. The truck is great so far, but since I also have an AT4HD that's leveled with 35's, this 1/2 ton seems tiny to me.

 

Reading all the posts in this thread, it seems odd to me that with my Weatherguard toolbox in the bed, I only have about a 1/2" difference between the front and rear. The toolbox is full of stuff, but I can't believe it would remove nearly all of the rake. I didn't measure before the toolbox, but I know it wasn't anywhere near the 1.25-2.5" of factory rake most of y'all seem to have. I did notice that my truck doesn't have any sort of a factory block in the rear, is that normal?

 

Anyway, I ordered a 2" RC leveling kit (top mount) and ProRyde adjustable rear blocks. Once I install the leveling kit and get the alignment done, I'll install the rear block to level it back out. 34 or 35" Ridge Grapplers will be next.

    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
