2019+ leveled trucks

Recommended Posts

Anyone done helper bags? I put my wheels and tires on yesterday and have decided I’m going to level with a 1.5” rear drop using Wulf Suspension shackles for my 2020 RST.

I always have a trailer hooked up to the truck and I think I’ll def need helper bags to obtain a desired travel position.

I have bags on mine for pulling my RV. Also have an wireless One On-board compressor for quick, easy adjustments. Highly recommend. Easy install. Wouldn’t tow with air bags. Have had then in my last 3 trucks for towing.

Nice, do you recommend a particular brand? I also pull a 28’ (5500lb) travel trailer.

Could you also point me in the direction of that wireless compressor? I’d like to eyeball that! Sounds like the exact route I’m wanting to go.

I pull about the same trailer.
I have these airbags:

And this compressor:

It’s a nice set up. Really like being able to adjust the pressure as I go. Easy for hooking on and unhooking, etc. Definitely worth the $ if you tow lots. I tow every 2nd weekend or so. Wouldn’t go without this set up.

First thing would do is add a weight distribution hitch for your travel trailer - will eliminate most of the rear drop and be a safer tow set up tranfering the tongue weight back to your front wheels.

I have thie set up for my enclosed trailer which is 4,350 empy and pending load will be 7,300 or 9,500 lbs.  Droop without it was 2.5" - now with proper adjustment it is about an inch.

Air bags make for better ride - keeping rear from harsh bounes off the bump stop - but do nothing for tranfering tongue weight from hitch to the front wheels of the truck.

I would also recommend a sway control for anything heavier that 7,000 lbs and longer than 20'.  When things go wrong the the tail wags the dog and both weight distribution and sway control will help you keep the upper hand.

I have husky weight dist hitch.

Sway Control

Here is an intersting video that will give you a clear picture of how weight distribution vs air bags impact your truck.

Nice truck - good luck with your set up!

I use a WDH hitch as well, always have towing anything 5k or more. It’s common sense to use one, or should be. Air bags add that extra help on the ride, bounce, sag, etc.

Here is 3" kit on my 1500 Sierra. It now measures right at 40" in front and 42.5" at rear with the 33" tires,285/70/17" to the

Bottom of the wheel wells. Sits about the same as factory 2500HDs. Not even close to rubing anywhere. Rides and handles nicely. Get alot of " oh you bought a 3/4 ton?" Comments all the time. I am pretty sure 35" would have worked just fine. But I didnt want

to loose that much mileage.

Looks great!

How is the 3" working for you?  I am looking to put a 3" front 2" rear on my 2020 Sierra, however the shops are recommending not going over 2.5" front on the 19/20 MY.

RC 1.5 front level kit.  The 2 inch level on Trail Boss requires new control arms and X 3 times the price.  Rake is less than 1/4 inch with the 1.5 RC and is close enough for me.  Tires = Nitto Ridge Grapplers 295/70/18 that measure 34.3 inches diameter.

Just wondering why all the truck leveling? Is there a practical reason or is it  just aesthetics ? If it is actually better does GM or any other truck manufacturer offer it as an option?

Simply for looks. Factory puts a rake on the trucks to counter the rear squat while towing/hauling heavy items.
