Y'all had your free time. Stayed civil but lets dial it back a notch. I'd like to discuss this stuff as much as y'all.

i hear this stuff everywhere else, don't need to hear it here too. :)

Guess I need to find an online place to civilly discuss. I’m isolated so this was my safe place.

The sermon this Sunday was lifting up people around you. I try to do that. I have a blessed life. I met my wife early in high school an army brat. Used to living a frugal life. Some simple tips to live an upper middle class life on a lower middle class income. Buy a modest first home. Pay it on a fifteen year program. So while my kids were in school we paid off our first mortgage. We shopped at resale shops. My wife drove certified pre owned cars. My wife started working after the last kid started school. All her money was for investments and an IRA. Her first new car was a in 1994 an Impala SS. When we sold it years later it was worth more than we paid for it. She only drove it as a daily for a year recognizing it was an investment. That was just lucky. The second home, the current one we put enough down to equal the previous mortgage paying it off in ten years. By this time the average middle class income was double. The rest of the first home money built our rental on the back of the property. My car addiction was handled with an allowance and my ability to refurbish and turn over classic cars and trucks. Not dinging the budget. I don’t do Starbucks. On trips we do value meals. When I want water on a trip. I go into whatever truck stop I got gas with my tumbler. Put ice fountain water. I have yet to be charged for that. We have never bought new furniture. But we have the best you can buy, many antiques. Most from moving sales or garage sales. Appliances are new. Pretty frugal right? Now our vacation, hobby. Ready, we go to casinos and play cards. About 8-10 times a year multiple nights. Anywhere from 0-8K a year total all paid for from rent from the rental house. How so cheap. We like paigow poker. Sometimes all afternoon  usually 200$ each that’s if we had a bad day. In return our meals, lodging and drinks are comp. Sometimes I wonder to slots. Usually they comp free play. They usually have drawings, slot torn tournaments etc. This hobby, vacation only works if you have willpower. They are designed to suck money out of you. We hunkered down hard the first part of our life. Then it was a breeze. All while building a family business. Talk about a grind. But that’s another more interesting story.

I left an important thing out. Vacation. When we got to the point where we started going on vacation. We discovered cruises. We’ve been on so many we’ve burned out. We always did inside cabins and the week after thanksgiving. Usually the cheapest and less kids.

Sell or rent your home out. Move to assisted living or retirement community. They come in all shapes and sizes. They have the help that’s needed and activities galore.

We were frugal. At one time had 3 houses, never rentals. Live in our dream home in a great location.

I'm almost over sciatica and shoulder surgery, looking for spring.

Allow me to say one more thing. A large minority of GM trucks members are Canadian. This site tends to cancel anything posted they consider unamerican or as they would say left of center. @Likarok articulated a very heartfelt case about screwing our ALLIES. Now if trade wasn’t good enough with the deal Trump signed I. His first administration that the last administration was honoring why is it bad now? Please don’t cancel this comment because it directly applies to GM Canadian production.

I’m going to keep this simple. 1 down, 2 to go. No additional comments needed.

Start your own thread. If you’re clever enough you may keep it going awhile. Be discreet with it. But if you wait just a little while the situation will be resolved. Just have a little patience.

Well, Well 2 down, do we really care about the last one to go down? No additional comments needed.

Additional comment…It’s actually 3 down if you count Panama.

Exactly. Have your own thread instead of crapping up someone else's. This is the main reason for posts to be removed from threads.

Now, that being said, the site does discourage topics of religion and politics. It's listed in the guidelines.  Why? Because it generally turns into a **** fest and is a pain to moderate when people say/do things they shouldn't. Then it carries over into other threads with bad blood between members. It can ruin the experience of the site for others

Coloring outside the lines sometimes adds a little excitement . I remember my Covid thread went a long time. One guy got it locked. He hasn’t been around awhile. I looked back over it awhile back. I was pretty on the mark on that one. Sometimes it takes awhile.

There's a place like that, it's called Facebook.  They color all over the place.  🤣

Drill down on the etymology of words like Politics and Religion. The later is outside the boundaries of human ability and the later is corrupt to the point it is unrecognizable but not unknowable; just takes a honest hungry humble heart. Something few possess. I'm an avid student and will freely admit I struggle with summiting to anything. Knowing that keeps me from acting foolishly.....most of the time. 😬

My 2 cents, again.

The biggest problem with forums or social media is the members, not the subject. The bickering trying to push one's opinion gets old. Trying to change a person's opinion doesn't interest me.
