Especially if most of the time what people are all up in arms about will change in hours or days. It doesn’t take much to take a breath and realize that. Some things take longer. Electric vehicles for example. A good idea potentially once the bugs are worked out. Yet they were pushed like the greatest thing ever. Mandates, rebates everyone fell in line. Then reality set in. Reality is the great equalizer. Sometimes it has to slap people in the face. Sometimes it takes a minute.

Most people fail to realize that in 100 years from now, what they say and how they say it, doesn't really matter to anyone but themselves.  No one is going to remember what they said (unless they were someone famous and it got documented).  That is why I have been refraining from adding to many of these non-truck related discussions.  Folks need to keep the emotions out of their posts, and fact check themselves so that what they say can't be refuted.  Provide their sources, not just say "I read it somewhere" or "so and so said it".  Really??  There is too much misinformation and extremism in the world.  We don't need it here.

There are a lot of smart intelligent members on this forum.  They are a great source of automotive information.  I have a lot of respect for these members.  But you know, when a few of them start straying from truthful information, I lose a bit of respect for them.

That's my 2 cents worth.

Now, that being said, the site does discourage topics of religion and politics.

I hope you see the humor in that boss man. :)

'Religion' is an identifier to let others know how and too whom or what we worship. That is, "We are devoted to".

Human's by nature have a spiritual need. You never see a family of squirrels sitting on a log in front of an old wise owl giving a sermon on XYZ. (dodging a bullet less I miss being funny).

And humans will worship more than a deity. A large segment of humanity worships money. Possessions. Power. Fame. But point is, we all worship something. Somethings we can talk about and some we cannot.

SO....what we really mean is we discourage unapproved religious and political topics.

Grandmother gave me two jobs in life. Be in the way and make things difficult. I'm really good at both. Grams is proud. :)

I almost fell out of my chair. You mean like the Bible? Don't worry. Few pay it much attention. 😉

PS. I enjoyed your post. :)

It’s really easy to see the path ahead. From my earliest experience in school people form groups. Usually the first group are bad guys. I usually group up the good guys. The bad guys left us alone because we were bigger. Our group grew and lasted all through school. Even some bad guys joined in. And became good. We had more fun. Common sense was our path. That’s what’s happening now. It’s easy to see the path ahead. It’s not a new path.

Agreed.

We generally only "discuss" things we disagree with one another on. No point in talking if everyone thinks like you. Not much to be said

I belong to a few forums, this one is the only one with regular banter about anything and it's due to a few members.

I don’t. Even though I’m retired I have a life. I only have one GM vehicle. I am a GM fan. Through my research I found a Dealer here locally that does warranty forever. They sell most brands. That brings GM back into my view. GM doesn’t make a rear drive large sedan anymore or a minivan. I wouldn’t even consider the Traverse in the past. But with all wheel drive and that dealer warranty, it could happen. As far as getting off subject. It’s the only reason I ever click on this website. If a guard rail gets dinged. There’s someone around to adjust it back. Otherwise it would get quite boring. There’s really only a few people who know these advanced vehicles. Even doing brake jobs on these new vehicles takes researched. So if you want to keep eyes on the site a little leeway is a must.

I mentioned to a friend the other day, "I like conversation but not so much confrontation."

I enjoy talking to my wife but I don't like fighting with her. And yet it will happen from time to time. We don't have a @txab at home.

I've been on several sites over the years. Got bounced off a few. Moderated a few. It's tough job and not everyone is well suited for the job. We have a gem of a moderator.
