Let's stay away from the name calling. While mild, doesn't add anything to the discussions. Keep it in check, I know you can do it.

Some people in this thread, and others, have been added to other users ignore list. So if you have been "ignored", chances of a direct reply are slim to none.

That's a user's choice

It is obvious there is some  animosity going on here.  My experience is that mud slinging is an ineffective strategy to achieve a solution in a dispute.  Often the person who is on the right side of public opinion loses support because of his / her poor handling of the situation.  Try talking in a respectful manner and appreciate that we are entitled to our own beliefs and opinions.

I think animosity is a bit strong. I think there is some frustration at lack of response to requests. Which is why I reminded all, some members posts may not be being seen due to the "ignore" feature of the site. If they don't see it, they aren't going to respond directly.

Hey people have opinions and butt heads on topics. This was just a reminder. Only reason I brought it up, while today it was very, very mild,  it can open a door in a negative way, perhaps even shutting down discussion. Which is the opposite of what is wanted here

All is well, carry on.

Donstar, your words are well chosen

Nor can it be. Don't read post of the ignored as a routine. Yes, I catch a snippet now and again in a quoted response from a member that is not ignored or a line or two that is included in "Popular Forum Topics". Takes a few hours or a day to clear that register so I'm checking in less these days. Thinking more and responding less to thought provoking ideas from a wide array of inputs. Here, yes, TV yes, meditations on daily bible reading, yes, side conversations and public addresses. Even a neighbors comment over the fence or around the fire in the backyard that draws some. Lot's of things trigger my thoughts and often I write those down here in this thread. Sometimes to share, sometimes to organize those thoughts sometimes to clear the mental cache.

I don't hold grudges but I do avoid stupidity and hateful behaviors as much as one can and still draw air.

Animosity is an interesting word, eh? The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition has some definitions of the word that provoke thought.

Hatred is a strong word the dictionary uses to define animus. I can't speak to the motivations of other but I can to mine. Hate isn't on that list of things I feel toward those I've 'Ignored'. @txab got to wording right. Frustration.

The very first post of this thread in the very first sentence is the mission statement. I am intrigued by truth and mystified by the efforts some take to bury it. My thoughts may be complex and even under a process convoluted but the goal is simple. Speak the truth with each other. (Zechariah 8:16,17)

One of the most frustrating things about searching for it with others is this false idea anyone is perfect. Reasonable people are quick to acknowledge their errors in process and conclusion and grant others that grace. Unreasonable people will grant neither and they 'frustrate' or "block the path" of (etymology of frustrate) truths pursuit. I hate that practice and I ignore those that use it as a bludgeon with willfulness. But I would still pull them from a burning building or feed them if they lack means or help rebuild their house destroyed by catastrophe. The practice not the person. Sadly some can't make that distinction.

It's break time. Later 😉

He says "speak the truth with each other" and then quotes a book of falsehoods and fairytales.

That, folks, is ironic. Ironic AF.

Should we look up and quote the definition of irony, and then bloviate some more?

Grump earns it. Trust me I don’t start it.

I have no animosity towards grumpy, he’s just a demonstrable online troll. Since many of you don’t or  can’t keep up with our diatribe….you don’t know that I’ve actually met grumpy in person taking him to lunch went out of my way to stop in Illinois to visit him. He’s a very intelligent 72-year-old man he just likes to watch himself read and right on the Internet. Quotes  Jesus and then plays a back handed game. I just challenged his thoughts that’s all he’s irritating so sometimes he can make you act like a 10-year-old when you respond because he writes stuff that is bizarre. Oh bizarro. Nothing personal.

Hey boys and girls if you don’t like me pushing back on pompous Internet trolls then get me removed. Easy peasy.

Don star as a former educator, you understand that if somebody is pushing information that is half truth and obvious sketchy science it’s irritating to those of us that actually practiced it. I know you probably don’t follow us closely, but I generally do not try to just hammer somebody. I try to answer the question and his questions are so all over the place when I try to get to the basic point he just starts talking about Jesus and truth and bizarre stuff so there you go.

Both you and Grumpy enrich my life by sharing your personal insights and experiences.  I don't believe you or Grumpy tell half truths or share sketchy science.  My experiences may lead me to quite different opinions but this doesn't diminish my appreciation for other interpretations.  I dislike the idea of opinions not being shared for fear of being mocked.

Spreading disinformation or obfuscating is a cardinal sin.  My opinion.

x2

Sins can be forgiven. The sin that guarantees a hot pointy rock in hell is doubling down disinformation and continuing to spread it.

We're all wrong at some point. We must remain open and evolving when it comes to new learning, and new information which helps us discern fact from lie. Not opinions: Fact from lies.

    • Late reply, but yes—it works on the SLT trim. Compatibility comes down to the plastic shroud shape behind your mirror, not the trim badge itself. On the SLT with auto-dimming, it uses a plug-and-play Y-harness off the mirror/rain sensor power, so no need to run wires down to the OBD port. If anyone's ever unsure about fitment, just drop a photo of your mirror housing and we can double-check it.   Appreciate the detailed feedback on the install! On the windshield glare—we actually took feedback like yours and developed a dedicated CPL (polarizer) filter to cut down dash reflections on sunny days. If you're still running the cam, shoot me a DM. I'd be happy to send a CPL filter over for you to test out—no charge.
    • There are no stickers in your glovebox?
    • Look at the numbers on the stickers in the door jam...
    • Yes, every time the developer updates his code, you must recompile. I will private message you with the latest because it changes pretty much with every version.
    • After I wrote that reply I went for a ride. 85 F out. So trans started at 85 F and it shifted the same as it did an hour latter at 168 F. I've never actually recorded the to cold to shift point but it is under 32 F before they start hanging on to a lower gear or leaving the converter unlocked. Both intended to heat fluid.    Yes, brake or bake. Absolutely.      Your welcome. True research ended decades ago. Field trials are still in play.    There is a thing called oxidation onset temperature. This is the heat related oxidation not the O2 exposure kind. For mineral oil that starts at 140 F. So what happens after 140 F? Each 20 F cuts fluid life in half! Does using a Full Synthetic improve that? Yes! By how much? Depends on the base oil type and a few other factors. But enough to notice. Some esters are even higher. There are even synergies between types the will raise it higher than any one component is alone.    Then there is "Hindered" oils. Antioxidant additives. Hindered Polyol Esters can sit at 500 F for years in a turbine.   When a blender brags his oil will 'take 500 F" in service he doesn't specify for how long. Water will dance on a 500 F hot plate for several seconds. @newdude put up a chart showing the relationship between fluid temperature and it's life in an automatic transmission. Here's a version of that chart for Group III based oils. These temperatures are those in the pan as observed as 'normal'. that is you drive as you do for as long as you do under what load you ask of it and whatever that temperature is this graph applies to. Flash temperatures of a few minutes isn't what his means.    Note that fluids held at a constant 240 F have a service life of only 20K miles. 220 F explains the factory exchange limit, eh? My equipment I keep under 180 F and I'm good if the cooler will hold it as low as 140 F. But that's me.
