Starting to regret buying black

Have to disagree with the buffer in this case anyway, it’s a half dollar sized blemish at the edge of a panel. It looks to me like most of the “damage” was made by someone trying to get the damage out with a compound and/or rag that was too aggressive. Need a fine polish and a gentle touch, not a buffer to do the whole truck...

He has many spots that he keeps finding. I've been in his shoes and the only way is to own a tool to keep the truck top notch looking... as he likes it. If it were one spot, sure... take to a detailer. But I am fully confident that he is capable of keeping his truck on point.

It's a random orbital. most likely, he's not going to mess the paint up if he uses at it is intended. If he was using a prograde buffer, then yeah... steer clear!

I think even a DA polisher in the hands of a DIYer on a black truck with soft GM clear coat may not be a great idea. It’s very easy to create the milky look he’s trying to get rid of. (I may or may not be speaking from past experiences, but not on my current truck at least!)

OP...if you’re getting it ceramic coated, let the detailer get the surface prepped. It’s part of the high cost of the service anyway, ain’t it?

Yep, I started to buy a black TB, but my wife is like "you will never be able to keep it clean", so she talked me out of it, lol.  I love the look of black trucks, hands down the best looking truck on the street, but I ended up with the Satin Steel Metallic and I love it and shes super sexy! :)

The black TB especially looks awesome.  Particularly the Custom IMO.

I have something similar on my 2019 RST I purchased on July 4th. Looks like two tennis balls smashed into it.
