Well after thinking about this could have been caused by the software update that they did at the dealership for he brake issue instead of the over the air update  or maybe the dealership one actually made the over the air possible?. I don't know all I can say is the truck has had a couple of updates in the last week and the IPhone7 volume goes back up like it should when the bluetooth disconnects now and it was NOT doing it before.

These trucks are so complicated that I am not sure if anybody actually knows what si going on with them, even the GM engineers that designed the silly things.

I had the same thoughts and updates as well, but all I know is that it's fixed on mine too.

I have the same issue with my 2020 Silverado 2500 HD.  As soon as you start the truck, the volume goes down to 2 bars on the phone and will stay that way until you disconnect from the truck and manually raise it.  I have an Iphone 8 plus but my spouse has an Iphone 11 Pro Max and it will do the same.  I have started a case with GM but keep missing their calls because it seems they call when I am in truck and cannot hear it.  You have to notice the screen on infotainment system to see if someone is calling.  I also have a problem with the system when I make a request to call someone, it will say, "unable to locate a phone", "please pair a phone and try again"!  The phone screen shows connected but it won't find it.  It also has "dropped" contacts for no reason, navigation just cuts off for no reason and then (we listen to a lot of XM) it will sit there and say that it is trying to connect to satellite, but FM stations, bluetooth music on phone will all play but XM won't connect!  I even have an iPod connected to the USB inside the console and sometimes it will connect fine and other times it says, "SDM card not working"!  We have had Chevrolets since the early 1970's but that is about to come to an end.  Yes, I have carried to dealer only to hear, we know about it but it has GM puzzled too.  We have tried everything listed on forums to fix but nothing!  Disgusted!

We have the opposite issue with our new GMC 2020 Sierra AT4 with android phone(s). When we connect via bluetooth, the phone volume is fine, but the MEDIA volume drops down to almost nothing and it WILL NOT LET US SLIDE IT BACK UP.  When we do it immediately reverts to the low setting the truck changed it to.  And, before you say it is a phone setting, this does not happen with the same phones in a 2019 Traverse Premier.  Any help?

As of 3-21 nothing has changed. My 21 Colorado drops volume on my I phone 8 when connected.

dealer says their not aware of this problem. There are no updates at this time.

I've tried all the tricks and nothing works.

The apple store denies any phone issues and is throwing GM under a speeding bus.

So you want me not to use bluetooth and plug my phone in every time? If you use bluetooth, it turns down your volume every single time, to the lowest setting. No matter what.

Exactly! I'm Having problems with my 2021 I phone 6 8 &10 all a problem.

dealer says bring it in but their not aware of this complaint. Chevy says bring to dealership and gave me a case #

we shouldn't have to mess with our phone settings

There is a solution:

Go to settings on your phone. Go to sounds and haptics.  Then go to ringer and alerts. Turn OFF the "change with buttons" slider thing.

Problem solved.

I have had this issue on my 19 as well but mine is also doing a weird thing where after about 5-10 min it reverberates, like an echo and then I can't hear the caller.  After that, it will be I can't hear the one that called me, I put them on speaker and after I hang up I can't use my radio, sometimes if I hit XM it will say, "Favorite unavailable".  Sometimes it will crash and reboot and be fine for a while.  Will this not be something the dealer will fix?  ugh.  I travel so I rely on all the functionality.

In another forum a user said these things were happening:

  • Volume is lowered all the way down (to zero)
  • Tone settings (base/mid/treble) are completely lost (everything is zeroed out)
  • Auto-Volume control is reset to none

What fixed the issues for my '21 Colorado was to do a Factory Reset on the Infotainment unit. Go here:

Home (Chevy's dark screen with the Android Auto and Audio buttons among others)
-> Settings
   -> Return to Factory Settings.

In another forum a member commented that he did this once and it didn't help. But after his comment he tried it again and it resolved the problem for him too. So you might have to do it more than once for some reason.

Here's a video for MyLink. I have a Work Truck edition Colorado so mine's slightly different but the procedure is pretty similar.
