Multiple sources are reporting that Federal Investigators raided the Detroit home of United Auto Workers Current President Gary Jones and the California home of former President Dennis Williams in recent hours. The Detroit News reports that this is part of a long-running investigation into bribes, kickbacks, and attempts by automotive manufacturing executives to influence contract negotiations with the union that builds many of America's vehicles.

The investigation has already resulted in many arrests and charges. “This weakens the union’s position at the negotiating table,” said Erik Gordon, a University of Michigan business professor. “The team could be in handcuffs in a week.” “It is rare if not unprecedented to raid a UAW former or current president’s house,” said Harley Shaiken, a professor at the University of California-Berkeley who specializes in labor and the global economy. “The timing is particularly disturbing.”

The UAW is presently in negotiations with three automakers over contracts.  More on this to follow as the story develops.

****Cue the theme song to COPS****

"Bad boys bad boys (and girls), wha'cha gonna do, wha'cha gonna do when they come for you??

All those union leaders and auto execs have been giving the finger to Trump.  Well, like they say, if ya screw with the bull, you'll get the horn!

IMO

If we knew of all the crooked dealings associated with business and politics it would dominate the news daily.

If the UAW leadership is as corrupt as the teamsters were under Jimmy Hoffa, their surviving family members better be prepared to break out the jackhammers to find their remains.

Good now go after the Teamsters, hell start with my local, apparently Disney employees somehow managed to get the president fired, now if only we could clean out the rest of them.

Initial Poster didn't even own a US vehicle when this right wing thread was posted enjoy the right wing diatribe silo here. Even NON UNION car makers in the south are enjoying pay and benefit increases from the 2023 win by Shawn Fain and UAW.   Shawn Fain kicked the monied folks asses.  Little people got help finally.

Only thing is that there are a lot more "little people" adversely affected by higher auto prices than there are auto workers benefiting. The wage/price spiral is a real thing and makes inflation all that more difficult to control. Inflation has been said to be the cruelest tax of all and it falls hardest on those least able to afford it.

Unless the US is successful in keeping cheap Chinese autos out of the US market, auto workers, UAW, or not will have priced themselves out of a job.

And that’s exactly the attitude that keeps wages LOW. It’s a balance and the US worker has been hammered. We keep voting for anti democratic leaders who lean towards the rich you get another 50 year run of ruining the worker. Sadly most of the Internet tilt is that way. US workers have been snookered by grievance politics all while voting to cut their own noses  off.

Yea let’s follow Californias model. Just how many people lost their jobs and businesses closed down? Entry level jobs are just that. Every where I go now they push you towards a machine. For ordering and checking out. I made just half the money the autoworkers made in my working life. Created my own retirement with that wage and retired early. Some things are really out of wack.
