Recall N192268090

Programming is done via SPS not GDS2. The GR8 or equivalent needs to be connected to the battery while programming. It's about maintaining voltage, not so much charging the battery. Dealers also have a small battery "maintainer" specifically for this purpose. For the record, if a battery is fully charged and in good condition, programming does not need a charger. Problem is that one never knows so it is good practice to use one. Nothing new here. It's been this way for years.

Same issue here on a 2019 GMC AT4. Just had the three recalls "fixed" yesterday, started the vehicle this morning with the ESC, and no brakes. Unbelievable. This was definitely related to the reprogramming they did, as I have had zero issues until now.

So i have a 2020 GMC AT4 just got on 11/20/19, had to take it in on 12/13/19 as i got the ESC error code and check engine light that wouldn't go off, dealer called a week later and stated that GM told them to replace the brake module, so they get the module but apparently need to order new bolts to put it in as they cannot use the old ones, so another 2 weeks later they contact me and say all parts are in but they cannot get the module to communicate correctly with my computer system and there was a software update just released that day (1/3/20) and they need my truck for 5 more days and i might get my truck back this week. I also asked if they would get the battery cable recall issue addressed and he said they should. So as of this Friday it will have been a month that i don't have my brand new at4, does this seem ridiculous to anybody else out there?? anybody experiencing a similar issue???

Thanks for posting the updates about the TSB!

I had the recalls done early on and did have the 3 warnings come up. After restarting the truck 3 times all codes cleared, including the CEL. I still brought it into the dealer on 2019/12/31 as this is very concerning, and it sounds like this is what they did. I found it quite odd when they said my battery charge was a bit low, does that mean an alternator recall could be coming for not charging properly or a batch of bad batteries?

When my messages came up I had started my truck with the GM app which seeing on there is worrisome, especially since it’s a feature you pay for...

Please continue to post updates as they come in.

From what I am reading using the GM app is ok to use but the concerns are coming from the use of the OnStar app.
I used to use the OnStar app but now use the GM/Chevrolet application.

Mine showed the errors by using the GMC application which is still powered by On-star. You pay On-star for the service of using the GMC/Chevy application.

Fortunately after the 2nd fix which was completed over 2 weeks ago it seems to be holding and I have been using the Chevrolet app daily.
hope it stays fixed!!!

Oh man, I'm scheduled to have all 3 recalls done this Friday.

Hopefully, itll go okay. Not much else to do really.

Well I had it happen for the second time (service esc light etc, this was after taking it back to the dealer for the “fix” to be done. If you restart the truck a couple times it clears, no CEL seems to stay triggered.

Seems the GM app is the one doing it for me. I’ll be calling the dealing and onstar tomorrow as I want a refund for the service I am paying for that is causing the truck issues...

Well, just got back to the house from Wild Bill Gattons. Had the 3 recalls fixed. Everything seem hunky dory.

Have 135 miles on this tank of fuel, and so far am at 24.5 mpg. I have hyper miled just a bit, but nothing at all to piss anyone off lol.  Also, I filled up with Mobil 1 93 this time. The first time I've put 93 in her. Excited to see what mpg she will get on the tank. The best I've had thus far is 23.5 on the full tank. Or maybe 24.5 - when I went to Charlottesville, Va. that time. At any rate, we shall see. :)

And while mine was in yesterday to get the both the fog lamp kit and the blade rear light bar installed they did the recall for the brakes too, all seemed fine until I came out of the movies last night.

I had done a remote start using the app on my phone and the moment I went to pull away the dashboard lit up and I had those same warning messages, thankfully I was in a car park as the brakes were almost non existent.

After shutting down the vehicle and restarting 3 times everything came back except now the check engine light is on, I have yet to go out to it this morning to check!

Update from this weekend, the CEL light is still on and the vehicle goes into my local GM dealer for them to get it sorted in the morning, the strangest thing at the moment is I can remote start it either using the app or key fob even though the check engine light is on?

I drove mine for 6 days with the check engine light on. No issues. Just got mine back today. GM is now saying not to start the truck using the app from this point until they can come up with a fix.

    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE. We're not going down the location rabbit hole. I'm aware of what economic migration is. I've lived in four states including Texas.   It's what "Purchasing Power" means.   I'm not telling you what I think. I'm telling what the government, your government, data shows.   It wasn't an argument. It wasn't a suggestion. It was a statement of FACT. You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion. Your not entitled to your own facts. If you and I were, they wouldn't be facts.    fact /făkt/   noun Knowledge or information based on real occurrences. • Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
    • Two interesting tidbits of information which are NOT related were just released.   One, regarding the possible thrust bearing issues / engine failures with the 3.0. Demonworks just did a segment in which they believe they may have found "a" or "the" cause of thrust bearing failures: A missing thrust bearing. If the engine doesn't have all its thrust bearings from the factory, the missing bearing can cause extra play which ends up destroying a nearby thrust bearing which then sends metal through the engine.       Of other importance, Lake Speed Jr released some interest information regarding oil weight selection for the 3.0. Comparisons of:   AcDelco 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w20 Dexos D Mobil 1 ESP x2 0w30 Mobil 1 ESP x4 0w40. Mobil Delvac 5w40   Spoiler alert: The Mobils are PAO Ester -base and the ACDelco is a Group III base. Mobil shows lower wear in their tests for similar weights. Additive packages between 20-30-40 weight ESP's appear to be the same, but only 0w20 is Dexos D licensed. Wear is even more reduced with 30 and 40 weight ESP although all perform very well and resist shear and provide very similar viscosities within temperature operating ranges in the 3.0.   There are even more surprises, so just go watch it.
    • Hello Guys I'm new to the form,         I just put a 7-inch Rough Country lift on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3 and I also put a Borla exhaust on it. But I noticed when I'm in park or in neutral and then I rev my truck up really quick there is a bad click noise and I think it's coming from the motor somewhere. Anyways I got a video of it I will attach below I was just wondering if you guys think its rod knock or lifter tick or something like that because I know the AFM kind of made the lifters weak on these trucks.       Thanks!!!!!
