Yes, because he brought up 8" lift. I don't know what his budget is but going anything above 6" is going to get expensive quick

Not really. The difference between a 6"- 6.5" and 8" is not much . A couple hundred bucks. Tires are my biggest expense. 35's or 37's.

I also started looking at the McGaughys 7"-9" Basic setup, and I like how you replace the strut instead of spacers. ?The kit looks pretty stout IMO. Roughly the same price as the Superlift and it don't widen the front track as much. Less than an inch I understand.

I would run it at 8".

What do you guys think?

Foh YES it does. You don't own my truck. I monitor everything on it. The transmission is fine

Whatever helps you sleep at night boss.

there's additional wear on every stock drivetrain part that is running on any truck that has suspension modified, tires modified, wheels modified, whatever..

the degree to which the additional wear is occurring is not subjective and the ability to monitor such wear in most cases is impossible.

around here, a level kit using spacers costs about $600-$700 installed, including alignment check (and we all know that a 2"-3" spacer kit costs less than $100, especially if you buy them by the case and an alignment especially if you own the equipment costs $40-$60).  so a level kit is around $450-$550 LABOR

full lift kit like you're talking about, including alignment afterwards, I have to say that $1,000 LABOR is probably the best money you'd ever spend.

I talked to a guy at Hooze 4x4 in Ham Lake MN today . He quoted me "around $2500" for the labor to install the Superlift 8".??

I told I would be looking elsewhere.???

My local 4x4 shop which are experts installed this for me 2 weeks ago: CST 4.5 lift, 4 Bilstein 5100's, 4 tires swapped on to my stock rims removing my stock tires, balance & alignment, installed a catch can and installed a front license plate bracket. $1055 total in labor including tax. I took them all the parts! 4 wheel parts wanted to charge $1400 + tax and that didn't include the license plate bracket or the catch can. If you can, go with a local shop that strictly does this for a living! I believe I got a good deal at $1055.

I also contacted Custom Offsets/Offsets Garage.

I live 300 miles from these guys. Easy 4.5 hr. drive.

Wheel and tire packages are one of the cheapest on the www

I could drop truck off Monday morning. Go rent a car. Drive up to the U.P.  Get a cheap motel and rent a snowmobile. Go riding for a couple days. Then head back to CO and pick up my lifted truck. ?Sounds like a fun few days.

Here's their response....

My local shop took 3 days. 4 wheel parts said they would take the truck in at opening and have it ready by closing time. I questioned that! I like people to take their time and do it right. I'd use a local shop because if you have any issues, you can drive back locally for them to fix the issue. And their will always be some sort of adjustment that needs to be resolved! Also, for example, my local shop requires you to return after at least 500 miles so they can triple check everything and retorque everything.

You got a deal for sure. I read your posts over on Silverado Sierra.

I want to go local but not for $2500. They can pound sand.

I got another shop up the road from Hooze I'm going to call tomorrow.  4 Wheel Parts never called me back. I'm also waiting on another shop down south of St.Paul to call me back .

I'll get to the bottom of this by the end of the week and start getting stuff on order.

I like Christmas.

Me too, Lol!! Problem is Christmas never ends with these things, Lol! Yeah, $2500 is a rip! Worse comes to worse do 4 wheel parts. Like I said, it was like $1500 total and that included my shocks, tires, alignment etc..The positive thing I can gather about them is that since they are a big company, they must have some good warranty that comes with the labor. From what I was told, they are owned by Polaris. But keep shopping around! Man, in Central Florida we are super lucky to have quite a few 4x4 shops and they are all well known and good at what they do.

Good luck with the search.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
