I Changed My Way - Bought A New Vehicle - 1st Time

I decided it was time to replace the wife's car. 2007 Accord EX L Coupe. 109000 K miles. I will sell this myself.

Above average overall condition.

 

I looked at used 2016, 2017 and 2018 Honda CR V EX's.

A 2018 with 6600 miles was our first choice. Lease turned into the dealer to upgrade to the Pilot model.

For $ 3 K more worked a deal on a new 2019 CR V EX with a few more options and 9 miles on it.

Liked the color combo on the 19 more.

 

I'm wondering how the turbo motor combination is going to hold up over the long haul.

This motor has a known issue of gas getting into the oil pan.

They say this happens in the colder regions upon cold starts. Think Michigan upper peninsula, Canada etc.

 

Have under 100 miles on it now. Nice vehicle. Wife is happy.

I was surprised of the overall performance of the 4 cyl. 1.5 L turbo coming from the V6 in the Accord.

Living in the mountains at higher altitudes and the varying grade changes I was wondering about a lack of power.

There is a lot to say for "wife is happy". Even if it gives you some trouble it could be worth it, haha.

Seriously, Honda makes some reliable stuff and I bet the overall life it better than expected and if you care for it like your old rigs it will last for sure.

Should go with a RAV-4.  They are better all around vs the CR-V grandmamobile.

My in-laws have the Honda they love them. I’m not a fan of the CVT, most people wouldn’t notice.

I have been hearing not so good stuff about the Toyota and they don't make stuff like they used too. Many electronic controls are failing early and lots and lots of recalls. Most people I know with new Toyota's are getting tired of having to go in for a computer update of other fixes.

Don't get me wrong, Honda is loosing quality as well but I think both can be a long lasting car is cared for properly. The biggest issue is the Honda GDI turbo engine that they seem to think they can fix the oil delusion with  a software update. 

 

Ether way your danged if you do, danged if you dont.

If I have problems, I'll get rid of it.

Nice choice of vehicle. 

 

I'm sure if you go to the Honda forum you will learn all about any problems just like on here.  Personally, I think you will be fine since you take care of your vehicles.  Might want to do a used oil analysis when you get some miles on it like after 10k miles.  That will let you know how it is performing and if there is a fuel issue.  If you do go with Polaris labs, aka Oil Analyzers.  Their test for fuel in the oil is up to date from what I was told and Blackstone still uses an older method that isn't as accurate.
