If you don't plan on towing heavy loads this will work.

I'd find it odd the GM dont have a single cab short box

They do, it's just not available in the United States, for now...

It's been rumored GM might be bringing the RCSB configuration back to the US. Keywords in bold.

First off I like to thank the brave men and women who are still working at this moment in various job fields. What you are doing is amazing.

This has a lot of questions so I do apologize and yes I have Googled some of them. Anyways, I have owned trucks in the past. Currently I have car. I been thinking of replacing it and saw 0% for 84 on some GM vehicles. Week ago I test drove Buick but was not impressed.

I am thinking of getting a pickup. The Colorado/Canyon does not have 0% for 84. I notice the Silverado/Sierra does. Also the price for both over lap. However the Colorado/Canyon come in Bas/SL trim. The Silverado/Sierra come in WT. I would prefer a Sierra but I notice more Chevys are available  the way I would wan them. I would like a non white, but not paying extra for paint regular cab, vinyl interior. I notice the regular cabs only come in W/T trims in the USA. Also they only come in 8 foot beds. Also I know I have to take what dealers have because production is stopping. I don't really need a pickup, it is more of a want.  Ram is also offering 0% for 84.   There will be more questions but that is enough for now. What is everyone's two cents? If this is the wrong forum for this I am sorry.

So Ram is

My local Chevy dealer has a few regular cabs.  Local GMC dealer does not.  Chevy regular cabs are only in WT trim.   My local dealer has one in a color other then white.   Only option is a hitch and wiring option.    On a regular cab is it a one peace bench or slit bench?  Is there an arm rest with storage?

My local Chevy

Yes, regular cab trucks do exist on dealer lots. As I said, regular cab short box do not.  Even from the two manufacturers that still “make them” in that configuration...you still just never see them around. And the Ram version is on the old platform and is the same basic truck that came out in 2009.

There is virtually no storage at all in the work truck trim. The armrest doesn’t open and the massive space below the center seat doesn’t either. If you were unimpressed with a Buick, I can’t imagine you finding the WT at all tolerable.

The 4.3 / 6 speed is dependable and should be fairly quick in a lightweight regular cab work truck. My 6 speed trans was a bit clunky though, don’t miss that one bit. I understand you don’t want a V8 but there’s not a huge fuel economy penalty to get it. Also, moving one step up to the Custom trim opens the possibility of the 2.7T / 8 speed combo which looks to be very economical in the city vs the V6 or V8. Of course, no regular cab in that trim though.

I think you should try an extended cab truck, they are fairly inexpensive and you have the option for dry storage like mentioned above.

Just got test drive some and work from there.

I drove about 15 vehicles before I got my AT4

Silverado reg cab only available in WT trim

Sierra reg bab only available in 'Sierra' trim, with is the base trim similar to chev's WT.

Both only in long box (8ft)

.

4.3L is standard, 2.7L is available, 5.3L is available -- it's the older AFM motor (L82), not the newer DFM motor (L84) that is in all the other trims.

No start/stop, unless it has the 2.7

L82 can have Flexfuel capablity added (rpo FHS )

Standard seats are the 40/20/40 no storage

Storage version comes on and is only available with the 2.7L

They have them in the middle east and other markets.

Right now the big 3 have 0% for 84. Do you still get rebates with them? Ford f150 is only on 2019s. GM has it on 2019 and 2020. Ram has it on 2019 and 2020. I am looking for a regular cab. With the Ram only the classic has regular cab. With ford there are a few 2019 with regular cab and short box. With GM to get regular cab you can only get the long bed. With GM it seems Chevys are easy to find in regular cab but GMC is not. Also ford regular cab come in XL or XLT. Not sure on Ram. GM only comes in W/T. I would be getting the base V6 with them. The ford is a 3.3 newest v6 with around 300 HP. Ram has a 3.6 with around 300 hp. GM has a 4.6 with 285 hp. Anyone know about the transmissions on any of them? Is there anything I missed?

If Dodge puts the 8 speed behind the V6, that is a good transmission. It's made by ZF and it seems people love it compared to the GM 8 speed.

The 4.3 GM engine has the 6L80e transmission. I like it and never had one issue with one.

No idea or opinion on what ford puts behind the base 3.3 V6 engine.

Believe it or not, you still can on the old platform.

Why you would want one is another story. Better off buying a 2013 model at half the price because it’s literally 100% the same damn thing inside and out. Even the 2009-12 are almost indistinguishable on the outside from a 2020 “Classic”...never buy a new truck that looks old!

The only think I would caution you on is in respect to the 0% financing.

Dealerships are notorious for pulling this but not giving out as many rebates. So do your cost/benefit analysis before pulling the trigger.

Example (made up): $30,000 truck with rebates of $7,000 = sales price of $23,000.  OR you can get 0% financing! Show caution because if rebates switch to $4,000 and a net sales price of $26,000 then you're really paying $3,000 for that "opportunity" to finance that over 7 years.

yeah no I meant in new body style....but yeah I wouldn't get a reg cab, dbl is minimum.....always good to have some dry storage and its hard to find a standard bed in crew cab these days....on 1500 anyway
