Is wheel skin just another name for a hubcap, because that is what they look like? To each their own, but those look dumb.

Yes, these just fit right over the rim and make it look like it’s the color being represented. Some people are on a budget and if it’s made from quality material and fits evenly. I’ve seen some of these wheel skins look really nice.
I prefer to save for the real thing but I totally understand why some do it. To each their own.
I’d  like to see one of these on a rim because those RST wheels are nice looking design. I’d prefer mine in chrome and 22s.

I get the reasons why, I just can’t justify hubcaps on a $50k+ truck.

I would probably be interested in the wheel skins. Good find.  I have found RST wheels in black for about $850.  But as mush as I think the black wheels look good, they make the truck look dirty when the wheels get dirty, and they get dirty easy.  My ‘18 Redline has black wheels, and they looked great cleaned and spay waxed after I washed the truck and tire shined the tires.  But my current RST wheels kinda match the color of my truck, and they don’t look very dirty ever. So I was happy with the gray wheels, but  I think black would look good, but would it be worth the trouble of keeping them clean....so what to do..   I think I may try the wheel skins.   I’ve seen them on other Chevy wheels and they look pretty good.  Not great.

No.....I had wheel skins on my 2018.  I'll attach a pic.  I had to buy the black center caps.

They were gloss black and covered the chrome or alloy wheel perfectly.  You couldn't tell they were covers and never fell off.

I've been looking for them for the RST wheels since I got my '20.   I don't want to plasti-dip them, they just scrape and scuff off.

I agree with Silversled, the current wheels don't look bad with the satin steel metallic trucks.

I cannot speak on behalf of the listed rim covers but my 2014 came with GM OEM wheel covers that were chrome and they destroyed my rims. The little foam strips that go inbetween the rim and cover caused the aluminum rim to pit and bubble up the clear coat in that spot. Plus the brake dust was eating into the plastic so it was pitted. I now have destroyed aluminum rims because of these skins so I would be careful and IMO would never use them again. Mine just came that way from the dealer when I bought my truck used unfortunately.

I looked at this auction closely.  These are the type that screw by pressure on the center cap of the wheel.   These are the ones that are problematic:

1.  They loosen and can fall off

2.  They are not tight to the outer portions of the wheel which can cause the vibration that causes the above mentioned damage to the wheel.

I paid a bit extra and mine actually clamped to each spoke of the wheel holding them tight to the wheel.

When I removed them after 3 years of my lease there was NO damage to my wheel, just brake dust that wiped off.

I'll wait to see if the maker of my old ones comes up with this design for the RST wheel.

    • It wouldn’t have happened if the government hadn’t mandated outrageous fuel mileage standards. It does very little for the consumer. It adds cost. Back during Covid there was a chip shortage. They gave a rebate for your truck if it didn’t have the chip to turn on cylinder deactivation. It was 50$ because at best you may see 1/2 a mile increase per gallon. Splitting hairs each fuel mileage trick wasn’t mandated. The government doesn’t do the engineering work and say use this until it’s already in use and they like it. The fuel mileage was mandated. And those add ons the results. There’s a mandate and they are the results.
    • It was never mandated.  Ever.    Automakers were incentivized to install it by getting CAFE credits to help with their vehicle fleet fuel economy scores.  They were being handed money/CAFE credits to install it.  Which is NOT a mandate.       The current admin removed the incentives that were behind them installing it.
    • Are you playing Slide Down endlessly but your score is still low? Are you constantly crashing into obstacles as the game speed increases? Don't worry, this article will share 5 invaluable tips to help you master the race and impress your friends. Golden Rules 1. Look one step further. The mistake of 90% of new players is only staring at their character. The secret of experts is to look towards the top of the screen (where the slide is about to appear). This gives your brain an extra 0.5 - 1 second to process the situation and determine the direction of movement before the obstacle approaches. 2. Use gentle movements; don't swipe too hard. Slide Down is very sensitive. Moving your finger too forcefully or with excessive amplitude will cause your character to be thrown off course or crash into a wall. Practise moving your finger with small, decisive, and precise movements. 3. Don't be greedy for gold in dangerous locations. Gold coins are tempting for buying skins, but life is more important. If you see a gold coin right on the edge of a cliff or next to a spike trap, ignore it. Our goal is a High Score, and your score only increases if you survive. 4. Make the most of Power-ups. During the slide, you'll encounter items like Magnets (attract gold) or Shields (temporary invincibility). Never miss them! Especially the Shield, it's your "get out of jail free card" to help you get through those deadly fast sections. 5. Stay calm when speed peaks. When your score exceeds 500 or 1000, the game speed will be very fast. At this point, don't try to think logically; let your natural reflexes work. Take deep breaths and don't panic. Apply these 5 tips to your next game, and your leaderboard will surely improve dramatically. Good luck climbing the Slide Down leaderboard!
